silvershark44
We after a night out with friends, I had way too much to drink so got a taxi home. Paid for a nights parking, and it expired at 8 the next morning. I didnt get back into town untill 8:20am due to traffic, and guess what, i managed to get a ticket in those 20 mins. I actually got it at 8:14! I was so annoyed. Any way I could get off paying this. It has been issued by Lancaster City Council. There must be some loop holes out there. Pig
Not that i know of. I once decided not to pay one. Worried about it so much that i wish i had just paid it. Nothing came through in the end (prob cause the V5 was registered at the wrong address) Just pay up1

tbourner
You broke the law, and no matter how close it was and even if you'd caught the ticket blokey at it you've got no choice but to pay.

Havard
I was on a 1hour slot in Manchester a couple of years ago and my customer held me back by a few minutes. I ran across town in a suit in the middle of July (warm for once), got to the car as the twat was writing the ticket. I was late by 3 mins and he claimed it was 6 as his watch was well fast.!!! It was well worth the £20 for the rant I had. I said some horrible things and I don't regret a word of it..!! Have you noticed they are always weird, social outcasts who do that type of job!! Twats!! silvershark44
The thing is as well, its a massive car park too, and at 8 in the morning, there was absolutely no cars about anywhere! so it wasnt even like I was taking up room. And after paying for 14 hours of parking, I was 20 mins late because the traffic was so bad anyway! If it had been a few hours, then yes that would be taking liberties, but 20 mins, cmon. I think you have no choice but to "bend over and take it" mate!! Find atraffic warden and give him/her abuse for 5 or ten minutes, follow them around for a while too as that get them really upset!! I'm confused, what was wrong with my reply? How come Havard gives a similar response and doesn't get flamed? I have a brilliant sense of humour and enjoy dry humour sometimes as well - I don't know what that's got to do with this though, he broke the law by not having a parking ticket for the correct amount of time, regardless of the situation that caused him to not be there on time to get the car. Bad luck. So what - no use trying to illegally avoid paying a fine really is there?
MKIVDreamer
Don't most places give you a 15 minute respite to get change to pay for the parking? If the fine was issued at 08:14 then under this rule you could argue that the initial payment had been made correctly (for the over night stay to 8am) but that in order to extend the ticket when you got there at 8am sharp, you had to get some change from a local shop etc? or am I talking rubbish (again!) Bad luck. So what - no use trying to illegally avoid paying a fine really is there? I think your original post came across as a bit un-sympathetic!! You do have a valid point but I hate parking attendants and traffic wardens and was therefore more sympathetic with his problem!! These guys are crafty bastards and will get anybody who drops their guard for a minute. I have to park in city centres all the time and the odds are against you.!! I have to carry about £8 in change every day just for parking. The minute you go over or you have to go and get some change they'll have you!! But in the end he will have to pay the fine or risk a higher penalty later on. H.
DamanC
Traffic wardens are failed police caddets. They were bullied at school and are all virgins. Despite this, they are the reason that high traffic roads remain clear for you to drive down. Why dont you phone them up with "i dont want to pay it". I didnt want to pay my last 4 parking fines. Havard
Traffic wardens are failed police caddets. They were bullied at school and are all virgins. This is along the lines of my first post in this thread!! The one in Manchester got "Were you not clever enough to get in the Police?" and "Maybe if you got a better job, women would want to f*ck you!!" He was also told to "Take his face for a sh*t - tosser"!! I get in the car and PMSL as I had been angry up until my outburst.!! H.
jaymdee
You broke the law. Sorry Trev, but reminded me of Stallone in Judge Dredd, only he would have said: You broke the laaaaaaaaw.
Jake
Any way I could get off paying this. It's probably too late now but what you could have done is waited for somebody to leave the car park and ask if you could have their valid ticket. Then, when the fine came through the post you could say "that's rubbish, I did have a ticket - in fact it's still in the car. See here's a copy of it" Seems like a lot of hassle for like £20 though. tbourner
OK sorry if I was harsh earlier, I've been at work all day now and I'm calmer. Problem though Jake, don't they argue that the ticket has to be visible? I'm sure I heard someone before had been done when they closed the door and didn't realise the ticket had blown off the dash!!
