Ewen
Lets face it, non smokers have been putting up with awful blue filled smokey rooms for the best part of 450 years now So...passive smoking makes you live longer then ?
peter richards
I am a smoker with nigh on no will power, I travel a lot to the US and there, being a smoker is like carrying around some highly infectious disease, and wearing a plackard stating it publicly I don't mind it at all, in fact when I go over there I give up for the length of my visit (usually 2-3 weeks). It's easy to give up something when you can't do it anywhere However, back in the UK it is all so easy and within a week I usually start again, this new Law...... I welcome it!!! Maybe now I can really conquer this!?good luck hope you can kick it

Ian C
You smoke you stink And so do I after going to a pub Roll on the ban Stay out of my lungs. Maybe non-smokers can flick old engine oil over smokers during nights out until then? That's a long term carcinogen and it's just as hard to get off. lambertpig
When I smoked , I knew it would /could kill me, I did not need any stupid adverts telling me this no matter how graphic they were. Almost everytime I lit up I knew I shouldnt and I knew I always wanted to pack up. Its a decision the individual has to make for themselves. However the smoking ban which comes into force later this year will go along way in helping people to pack in or at least cut down as there simply wont be anywhere to smoke. I do not think that people should have to be subjected to passive smoking BUT as a non smoker the ban does NOT sit well with me . I do not believe that a government should be telling its citizens what they can or cannot do and where they can or cannot do it. It is NOT illegal to smoke. YET Now I know that it is to protect non smoking staff etc etc who work in public places , but I think we should all watch out. Today its smoking, whats next ????? They are already looking at the black boxes in cars , monitoring usage, more importantly they can tell where we have been and when we went and how fast. Maybe a law will be introduced when we can only go for a beer at the weekend, yet must be home by midnight. You may laugh, but not as much as somebody 30 years would have laughed if you told them they couldnt have a smoke in their working mans club over a pint one day. hmm, good post:Pling:
martin_a
Being born is a good cause of eventual death. At some point we all go. Between campaigns on binge drinking, smoking, junk food, red meat and salt you'd think we should all live forever. Trouble is we're so unhealthy we are living longer (durrr) which is why the retirement age is going up. Smoking in pubs where no food is served is fine by me. I don't smoke but if i choose to go into a pub where they allow it and tip some brain killing, artery clogging, heart attack inducing, liver damaging alcohol down my neck then so be it. After all, smoking 20 a day shortens your life by what? 3 years. How much damage is o few hours in the pub one night really going to do? Agree with morning after smell though. m.
