Sharpie
Bit of a open question I know.... I came home tonight and someone followed me all the way home and told me that my rear wheel was wobbling around - Chrysler Grand Voyager. I got the bus up on the trolley jack and both rear wheels are firmly attached (wheel nuts) and I could not pull/push the wheel around. (I guess the handbrake does not help). Any Idea what could be causing this ? I'll be calling the dealer to get it booked in but, just thought if anyone had a clue ?
RedM
Not a wheel trim coming loose is it? Either that or wheel bearing.
Sharpie
No wheel trim, alloys on the bus.
Pete
Buckle?
Ric
yes buckle more than likley
Chewie
How did it feel to drive? Sure it wasn't a tyre side wall bulge? Has it been kerbed recently?
R3DG3CKO ROB
sounds like a buckle...
Sharpie
Not curbed, feels fine to drive, all tyres are in good shape and psi correct. I followed the wife out this morning and drove ~2miles and it looked fine, it was down a straight road but, had a couple of roundabouts in it. keron
best thing is to take it to a tyre/wheel dealer and put that wheel on a balancer machine to check it. should only cost you a fiver at most. at least it eliminates if the wheel is bucked or not? Also have you got sprigot rings on the alloys? if they are not standard wheels then you will need to use these if the center bore is a different size to stock, otherwise it could cause this probably. Sharpie
Car and wheels are stock. Good idea about getting them checked out.
garethr
Swap the two rear wheels and see if the wobble changes sides? If it does, it's the wheel/tyre. If it doesn't, it's something else.
Marco
Long shot... Is the tyre dirty? If there's a bit of dried mud of the side of the tyre it looks like the wheel is wobbly when you drive.
RICHARDA
Thats what I would go with as you are only relying on someone elses info. Scuff or mud/dirt etc can look like a wheel wobbling especially at night in the headlights of the car following.
Sharpie
rubber is a little dirty with all this rain water - no blobs of mud or anyting.... but, last night I did put some tyre shine on the outside rubber walls....it would of made them look different compared to the rest of the tyre. Ian W
as Garethr said, swap the tyres/wheels over (more than likely you'll have directional tyres so just see if you can borrow a pair of rears off a local member).
Sharpie
I don't feel any wobble, that's the thing! I have just been stoped by some lady saying she could see it wobble. It's not the soop [that's why I'm in non-soop section ]so, can't borrow a pair of rears off a local member and I don't have directional tyres
Chewie
Sounds more like this lady who followed you should've gone to Spec Savers.
garethr
I don't feel any wobble, that's the thing! I have just been stopped by some lady saying she could see it wobble. In that case, just get someone to follow you up the road. Probably just an optical illusion, but best to check.
Chris Wilson
It's a Chrysler, the axle shafts probably coming out of the casing... Just kidding, it's probably her imagination if nothing feels as if it's falling off and the tyre hasn't a bulge in its sidewall. BTW, my camera is back and it's on charge, I will take pics for you shortly!
