Shane
Just made a purchase for some car bits via paypal. For me it was a pretty big transaction and all seemed to go smoothly. About 5 minutes later, some bird from the US calls me from Paypal and wants to know if it was really me who made the purchase.....as no-one else knows about it I had to assume she was genuine so I confirmed and that was that. Normal?
hiten55
IIRC my mate had this once, im sure its pretty normal, credit card companies tend to do it more though, if you really concerned contact them to verify?

Supradoopa
I'm sure if it's a big transaction they will get in touch just incase your account details have been stolen etc

Yes, I have had it a couple of times at work when using the Co. credit card but never with any of the many paypal transactions. She seemed to be 100% gen and knew exactly what was going on. Quite happy she was genuine but just a bit surprised as it's never happened before. Still guess I should be happy they are making such checks eh. Chewie
Safe as long as you didn't give any personal details and passwords.
Shane
Approx how much? some card companies call random amounts over £500, some call over £1000 and so on Was two transactions, both transfers instead ebay purchases which in fairness is all my paypal account has ever been used for before, one for £12 and the other for £320. Shane
Safe as long as you didn't give any personal details and passwords. nah, wouldn't do that. Although I know someone who followed the spoof email link and got right to the point where it asked him for his PIN No. before he realised that it didn't seem right.....true story and have to admit it was one of my sons! Plonker.
Rico2006
Never had that on Paypal myself.. I put a lot of large transactions though (£1000 + ) and sometimes paypal rejects the payment as it triggers the anti-fraud on Barclays... Who then call me - never had paypal call me though. still, if you didnt give any details out its gotta be genuine...Good move on them taking things seriously for once
