francesca
Definitely works, not exactly easy to apply, just hard work really. I did mine the Saturday before JAPS - you have the pics!
Branners
Paul - the problem with machine wax is that you need the machine to go with it. Most people I know tend to make a big effort once or twice a year to get the car really clean and the rest of the time just do a decent clean and polish, so the machine stuff wouldnt really suit them. The hand glaze may be tricky to apply and remove but if it takes an couple of hours to do the car twice a year then its probably preferable. Shop!! has been keeping me a little busy, but I have also been working on other bits of the car getting it ready, headlamps are done, cam cover is half done (just needs clear laquer now), wheels are off and are going to be sent to Pristine so long as they can get them back to me in time for Billing, but it looks like Leon cant fit the car in for the frontal respray so I might have to use chips away. I will probably use the hand glaze on the saturday just before Billing so everybody will just have to wait... JB Shop!!
Paul Booth
Don't use the glaze before Chipsaway have been. They didn't clean of the Autoglym resin polish fully and my stone-chip repair is starting to shed.
Branners
so you are saying the Chipsaway bloke didnt do the job properly? hmm, I might just wait until after Billing to have Leon respray the front of mine. JB
Paul Booth
Well 75% of the work is A1, particularly where they removed traces of my measles spot repairs. Their new paint onto the remaining stone chips is a bit delicate. I guess if you use Toyota's repair kit (big blobs) and get Chipsaway to tidy it up, that might work. Hey, what do you expect these days for under £100? Sad that isn't it.
Phil
Thats a pity because I was rather keen on the chips away idea but I've got loads of Autoglm Super Resin on mine so it sounds like a no-no. Still, a bonnet respray is a good excuse to have a UK spec bonnet pod fitted
Phil Wall
A friend of mine is going to give some glaze he uses in the trade. Will try it on the car and post results.
