Head Gasket Choice

I've just started a rebuild of my engine and I was wondering what head gasket to use?

I apologise if this has been posted before, I did a search and found tons of threads on Head Gaskets, but nothing definitive on what to use for my intended config; although there are over 400 threads with that key word, so I've probably missed it!

I'm looking to get about 550RWHP when I'm finished, but it'll be done in stages as cash allows; as such, while I am running hybrids at the mo, I will be getting something with a little more punch later, so should I provide a lower CR to allow for the increased boost?

My question is, in relation to my end goal, what head gasket (thickness) should I use? I can put an engine together, but my knowledge of CR verses Boost is not exactly comprehensive, so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Stock thickness, CR is adjusted by piston dish depth, or chamber volume, not gasket thickness. Thick gaskets kill the squish volume that's needs to be kept small to stop detonation. Using a thick gasket is a really crude way to drop CR.

Thanks for that, it's much appreciated.

My next question is: would the Toyota gasket be good enough, or should I opt for something else; if the later then what is the stock thickness? I have seen conflicting reports on this forum as to whether it is 1.2mm or 1.4mm.

Sorry to respond with another question.
