Not sure what you mean by 'shading to identify them'

 

Do you want the shading to indicate the ones that aren't printed?

 

If you just want them not to be shown you could change the font to white or put the cells in a hidden column. The shading thing makes me think you don't mean that though :conf:

Just shading to identify the location of a cell amongst loads of blank cells.

 

I'll be typing something in the cell then printing it out, but it could be a different cell every time.

 

I just want data to appear and nothing else, I thought there might be a way of highlighting the possible cells that I might use.

not sure if it'll do what you need, but you could insert a comment in the cell, which'll show the small red flag in the corner of the cell but won't show up on the print out. You don't need to type anything in the comment either.

LOL :)

 

I've just tried that , it does work but the red triangle is very small.
