No I think it is along the same lines as your bird and me, and loads of other people seem to have had. Started with loads of aches and pains, and then went to some extreme flu like thing. In her case she seemed to recover a bit and then all of a sudden went down hill again rapidly complaining of extreme headache and couldn't stop coughing, almost uncontrolablly and coughed so much eventually making her self sick. They told her up at keydoc that loads of people around here are down with it and to be honest mate you are not too far away eh?

I have been off work now for 4 days and this is unheard of for me, but am on the mend for sure.

Anyhow, glad it's going better now for Emily, have a good weekend.

Oh and Pete, you are a very sick, sad man and remind me to get you put on the mailing list for the bible society. My ex missus was a god botherer, what a nightmare that all was! Actually, maybe I should pass on your details to her and tell her that you are ripe for conversion:eyebrows:

As a professional hypochondriac I am qualified enough to say try the glass bottle test. With meningitis, you get blood poisoning septisemia which shows up as red blotches. Roll a glass over the blotches. Normally they would disappear for a moment but with meningitis they stay red. If so get to hospital. And once there watch out for MRSA C difficile - the new killer bug.

Hi guys,

Thanks for asking, and sorry for updating! Been with her most nights. Came back about 2 hours ago.

She's doing OK. She is at home being looked after by her mum who's got time off work to monitor her symptoms. Emily has been signed off for 2 weeks....obviously.

Just on the look out for any developing marks, light sensitivity etc, but looks like she's through the worst now as if anything, it should of shown up alread. She should be fine now I hope. Just has her real up and downs still.

Was our 1 year anniversary recently so not a brilliant way to celebrate!

Thank you all for your support. All all a great bunch of people and look forward to meeting the old and new faces soon. ;)

Will let you know how she goes this week.

Cheers,

Greg

Emily's her name Chilli. Thanks mate. Here's the cheeky devil: :)

Thanks Squiffy and sorry to hear about your car buddy :(

Pete - I know mate, just hits home as to what 'could' happen if it was left longer etc. Just like a typical cold really.

Night all.

You did realise that some shifty looking geezer is stroking her hair while you pose with her.... ? :)

hi Greg,

have just read this thread, and seen that you have been through it with lots of worry recently.

I am so pleased things are looking up for you both, hope Emily continues to improve and gets well soon.

all the best,

Ian

Thanks mate, and thanks to everyone above too. All is good. A lot of bugs doing the rounds at the moment, this was quite extreme!

Thanks Chris. Yes, she has to clear out my car after she spilt a whole packet of cocoa-rocks cereal for starters! She's also sorting out the bedroom at last.

LOL. Just spotted that. Not sure who he is, but I know the girl to the right. Ah well, needs must and all................:)

I had meningitis a few years ago, was in hospital 10 days and off work for 2 months.

Husband said to stop moaning as it was probably the first proper migraine I'd ever had lol, couldn't even move to reach the phone and call an ambulance myself... eventually he took me to the GP who took one look at me, phoned the hospital and told them I was coming, and had a lumbar puncture set up waiting for me when I got there.

Is the most unbelievably painful thing ever...

* appendix bursting 8/10 on the pain scale

* left with no painkillers 24 hours after a caesarean 9/10

* meningitis 250/10 - excrutiating

It sucks... look after her, but don't expect her to be back at work in 2 weeks.

PM me if you're worried.

Jesus Babe, sorry to hear this! Hope you're all OK and up and about now. I can only imagine the pain you must of been going through.

Emily has now nearly made a full recovery and should be back at work next week, maybe even this week. She's still feeling a little jaded, but nothing major. Docs have given her the all clear.

Now the girl has to work her arse off to pay for our holiday and obviously do some catching up on a few other 'extra-curricular' activities too. :p

Once again, thank you all for your support. Just shows what a brilliant bunch you all are.

You'll catch her at the next meet sometime no doubt.............if she wants to go this time

Cheers,

Greg
