Illuminated switches for AEM switch inputs

Hello mate,

I'm doing the same, have bought the switches and made a panel for them.

All I was going to do was ground the switches and then wire into the aem, you don't need a +ve feed to the switch as the aem sends 5v if ground is ON. Then just a case of assigning the pin out to a switch no.

Unless I'm wrong

This is something I am not 100% sure on.

I thought you wired one side the switch to a ground and then to the pin on the ECU, when you flick the switch it grounds the pin and activates the software switch on the ECU. Think these are low side switch inputs.

There are also high side inputs which take a positive feed instead of ground I think.

Need to read into it more.

After seeing Matt's i've done something similar to go in under the stereo. So it really is just ecu to switch to ground.

Got any pics :eyebrows:

Sounds like the switches are simple to wire up, I am also looking into whats involved in wiring up the traction control sensitivity input.

I picked up a 9pin serial extension today so I can have a ECU port on the dash as well

The switches arrived this morning, I have attached some pics.

As the AEM switch inputes work on switching to ground only I was thinking I can reverse the wiring through the switch, I will test this first though.

They are supposed to be wired like this :-

+ : positive feed

A : switched positive feed

G : ground

Can anyone see any issue with this wiring instead :-

+ : ground feed

A : switched ground to ECU

G : positive feed to illuminate switch

I have tested the switch with a meter and there is no continuity between the ground port and the other ports with the switch in either position.

As I am only switching grounds would I be correct in assuming I dont need to fuse it any where, I am planning on using the cig lighter as my positive feed for switch illumination only.

Right I just tested this with the wiring above.

With the switch on and illuminted I get 0v on the Acc to ground which is good, but when switched off I get 12v to the Acc to ground.

Can this be wired like this as I have to make sure I dont send 12v down to the ECU?
