SUPRASUZUKI
My lad bought a jacket of egay in December through my account. He paid me cash, I paid for the jacket via paypal. The jacket never arrived and me, being the responsible parent (read: unreasonable barsterd) told him it was a valuable lesson in life not to trust everyone. He shrugged his shoulders (teenager fahion) and told me he wasn't bovvered. I opened a dispute with paypal (after numerous emails to the seller) which has just been concluded in my favour. Consequently, I'm now £50 up. Do I:- A) Keep the money to make up for all the times my lad borrows a fiver and use it to pay his share of the telephone bill? B) Refund him, as it's not my money but his?

mawby
Use the money to buy him another jacket and then tell him that the next valuable lesson in life is not to roll over and take it when someone tries to shaft you!

ellis
You'd actually contemplate stealing money from your own child??!! I admire your lack of morals and heinous thoughts! Blow it on porn and enjoy the moment!!
KaoriFan
either give him the 50gbp back and make sure he buys a replacement jacket, or, use the 50gbp and buy him a jacket yourself. hopefully, he will see the lesson in all of this.

geoffvalenti
Blimey, if you can't trust your parents not to screw you over then who the hell can you? The only advice I can offer is treat him in the same way you'd hope he'd treat you, if the boot was on the other foot. Seriously, I'm surprised you have to ask the question

Pete
Either:- 1) Give him the cash back you tight arse - that's what parenting is about! or 2) Explain to him you're not going to miss this opportunity and keep it to pay the phone bill. SUPRASUZUKI
To be honest I always intended to give him the money, just thought I'd canvas opinions and ideas (honest Geoff:) ). The 50 scratch card suggestion got my attention though, as it's different. I might wait until he really needs the money, then come up trumps. He's 15 by the way. He's also 6'2 and 13.5 stone and can shrug and mope for England.
Havard
I'd hold on to the money until he wants to borrow some and then remind him that he "wasn't bovvered" about £50 before so why should you lend/give him some now. If he seems like he's regretting the decision then hold out the cash and prove a point to him!! OR just spend it on porn as was previously stated!! H. jamesmark
Having being one of those kids, and grown up now (debateable) I would take the money to a charity tin and put it in the charity tin, if he is able to shrug off money that easy then shrug it off to a good cause. Rob Dublin
Prime opertunity for him to learn how to polish a car properly (decent wax.. 20 quid... 30 quid labour) Bit of a result I'd say
Charlotte
Keep it. When he asked to borrow money use that instead of your own cash.
