Bakerboy
Hi all, As the title suggests I am wondering if a bodykit on a 95 supra would clear speed bumps... it has 19's on it and is standard at the moment, would a veilside bodykit hit the speed bumps do you guys think? I say this as the road I live down is full of speed bumps. Or, can you raise the kit a few mm as new suspension is costly I think... Thanks
S7EVE
Depends on the size of the speed bumps, the vary round by me, I have to plan my journey whenever I go out! Standard suspension or bilsteins should be fine. Im sure someone will clarify.
CardiffSupra
I was worried about speed bumps before i got my kit, I'v had no problems at all even on the big ones, Only time i get a scrap is when there is a sharp incline or decline in the road. nismo_lp
I have to avoid them ... end up taking an extra 3 mile tour to get to my gym! Very annoying!
markymark
My car is very low (check garage) I have come across all types of speed bumps and still manage to get over them with not much bother ( its just the way you go over them)
monkey76364
They only ones I have trouble with are thew small sqaure ones either 2 or 3 accross the lanes. Most cars can just stradel these, but in the supe i tried that and i could here it cath at the front and onthe exhaust. Normal humps are ok if you take them slow, but again I take a 2 mile detor to work to avoide them all.
IDO
As most people say you should be ok.. But as mentioned i try to give them a miss if poss' The main ones to watch out for are not always the speed bumps! watch out for the sharp inclines/drops such as driveways (garage forecourts) and even some multi story car parks! tbourner
I had more problem with my exhaust mid section than my Veilside. Just went VERY slowly and it was fine.
bodilx6
I've had a lot of troubles after lowering the sup. It's running on Koni about 1,6 inch lowered. I have to drive through a building site from my home and the speed bumps there killed me. Scraping every time. I got the problem helped by changing the suspension for the exhaust. That can acutally be raised a bit which helps a lot. Another trick is to drive at an angle to the bumps. Check under your car. The lowest point is probably the exhaust pipe.. not the fenders
jamesmark
When I got my Supra it had 19" wheel on it standard suspension and a Top Secret bumper and I never once had any clearence issues and I went to liverpool and they have massive ones, I took it slow and still no issues, went lower with Koni and Eibachs and the bumper lasted 2 weeks before it was smashed doing down a speed bump at 2mph. Have a look for a thread by me "I broke the supra"
SupraAyf
I've just put the Top Secret bumper on and now I have to creep off my drive at an angle in order to avoid decking it. What inconvenience for vanity eh!
Bakerboy
mmmm mixed opinions really, I have quite a steep drive so will probably avoid a body kit although I really want one It's silver at the mo, so might just colour code the splitter's that should helpa bit with looks I might concentrate on the interior instead then, as it's an aerotop...
