Tricky-Ricky
Etch primer should do it, although i have used just ordinary 2K primer and its been fine.

Tricky-Ricky
One more tip when priming alloy, make sure you get out all the past corrosion, and wipe well with spirit wipe before priming.

Wez
I just done my spare set of wheels and used all Halfrauds own brand stuff. I left my primer to dry over night and gave them two coats, then did the same with the paint and then lacquered them. EDIT: just to add, I washed mine with petrol before painting. H7ERO
halfrauds also sell Hammerite special metals primer which i have used to repaint wheels with no ill effects, it thins with water too so spraying it is easy, but even when brushed it leaves a very smooth even surface! Bad move i'm afraid:( petrol leaves a residue, hope the paint stays on there, meths is far better although not ideal.
Jake
I always use cellulose thinner to wipe down the surface before painting. Seems to work fine. Anyone see a problem with that?
Darren
I've got some 4x4 alloys to do can I wipe em down with white spirit? I'm going to paint over a polished lip that is salt damaged...
merckx
Body prep , body clean stuff is what you use when doing the bodywork of a car. About £10 from a motorfactor for 5 litre. It's good stuff! Meths can dissolve the paint, especially primer. Not as harsh as thinners. Thinners is only good on bare metal, it will soften the paint. I left about week between cleaning and painting and wiped them down with a damp cloth. They seem ok at the moment as I have just had some new tires put on them.
