CJ
I use Outlook (not express) as my mail in box and also have NOD32 working as my anti virus etc. Now, for some reason, whenever my send or receive button is pressed on Outlook it goes to 50% then stops. It also starts a download of 4.5mb (this shows from NOD32) that goes as far as 1398kb then stops. Is there anything I can do? It is stopping all other mail coming in. BTW, I am unsure as to what the big file is as I currently get the majority of my mail through Gmail servers and then send that on to my TalkTalk account. The Gamil account does not show any big file waiting to be sent across.
JustGav
Mine here at work does it as well, outlook likes to hang around the 50%, meaning it has either sent all its mail and is now waiting to receive. Call me if it doesn't come down.. and I'll talk you thru some bits.
Jake
You should be able to see which of your email accounts the large email being sent to, right? Can you Log on to that account's webmail and download it that way then delete it from there.
JustGav
Which email account is the large email being sent to? Can you Log on to that account's webmail and download it that way then delete it from there. I use that exact thing with my dad, people are always sending him large emails, and it is far easier to webmail into the server and trash it there.. edd_t
try just downloading the emails without the large attachments benig downloaded at the same time, to see what happens... On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups. In the list, click the group that includes the account you want, and then click Edit. Under Accounts, click the account you want. In the list, select the Inbox Select one of the following: Download item description only Only message headers (message header: Summary information that you download to your computer to determine whether to download, copy, or delete the entire message from the server. The header includes these fields: Subject, From, Received, Importance, Attachment, and Size.) are retrieved during Send/Receive. Download complete item including attachments Message header and content are downloaded during Send/Receive, including attachments. Select the Download only item description for items larger than x KB check box, and then enter a number in the box. - would suggest this one. CJ
I think I can see the problem now. I had a large email sent to my Gmail account that contained a load of car pics that probably amounted to 4mb. The Gmail account has a forward on setting to send any mail that comes in there to my Outlook account (TalkTalk). I have now deleted the large mail from my Gmail inbox but I think it is still hanging about on the Talk talk server. Is there anyway i can stop that coming through? JustGav
Webmail for talktalk, go in via that and check which emails are causing the problem. http://webmail.talktalk.net/ Gav Disclaimer : Don't use talktalk, just did a google search for 'webmail talktalk' and got that...
