Jake
Oh right. I didn't think it (the mapping) was anything to do with TF so that makes sense. I think Dan said two or three hours Dyno time then fine tune it on the road. He's gonna remove the map Turding Japanese did and start over. He's was confident he can do it in a day 'cos he's mapped quite a few Supras now. Seems like a good guy.

TLicense
If you are happy to assume the marks are accurate, yes. I'd double check the marks if you are not 100% happy about them, using the degree wheel on the crank. This is something that's a LOT easier with the engine out of the car, and one of the reasons I love engine dynos, as you can easily bugger about with stuff like this. I personally don't think it really matters if what the cam wheel says is 4 degrees is really 4 degrees or not. It's just adjusted to whatever's best. If it's off by a fraction (or even quite a bit) it won't really be a pain as it's just advanced/retarded to suit the application. It's not like he's going to say, "right I'll set it to 2 degrees as that's what's best, and wether it be good or not just leave it at that." Chris Wilson
Tony: Problem with that take is when you come to strip it, or change parts, you need to know the real timing relative to TDC in order to repeat it.
Lucifer
I'm having my car's MoTeC M600 remapped by Dan Turner next week because I'm not 100% happy with how it idles when hot and the off-boost AFRs. (Car spec here) Now, there's a few things I'm wondering about; The exhaust cam (HKS 264) is currently advanced four degrees. http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7538/img0191largedn6.th.jpg This seems excessive, I believe the stock cam timing is best, right? So I should reset it before having the mapping done? Spark plugs. Does it matter for the mapping whether I the use NGK coppers (BCPR7ES) that are in there at the moment or should I fit the Denso Iridium IK24s I intend to use in future? Thanks. Jake each engine is different, whats the compression? A good mapper will adjust all that for YOUR car. I just dont get why people post up here for settings? samsupra37
Oh right. I didn't think it (the mapping) was anything to do with TF . Of course the mapping has everything to do with Turbofit as Dan works for Turbofit.

But there are still increments on the pulleys, so all you would need to do is set it back to the same increment as it was before you took it off. It doesn't matter if it said 2degrees, 4degrees or 180degrees. As long as it went back on the same as it came off.... Would save a lot of faffing about IMHO.
