I did something similar in ice and snow up the Longmynd in a Rover 100. Every time I let off the handbrake the car slipped closer to the edge. I made all the passengers get out and try to hold the car back whilst I gunned it to get back on the road. Scarey.

My parents have a place in a very remote part of Spain.

Until 2 years ago they didn't even have a major road up to the village (they used a dried river bed - rambler).

Most of the tarmaced roads in the area have very little protection if any from falling into the ravines.

As you drive around you see wreckage of old cars at the bottom from accidents as knowone will take responsibility and remove them.

Very disconcerting :(

Saw one quarry truck that had fallen down to the bottom killing the driver the night before only a few miles down the road from us.
