if you're going to the bother of replacing one of these items then you may as well do both imo.
Are you sure you're Scottish? :D

 

Five minutes fitting a new belt would be the most sensible thing to do. The chance of the tensioner being the problem is remote, in my opinion.

both parents are Geordie's as well would you believe lol

 

at least if the tensioner is replaced it'll not need done again in the car's owner-lifetime provided it's treated properly in future.
