Jake
while were talking about this, a bit of an off topic - how long usually would it take to fit a walbro fuel pump? is it difficult? (not planning to do it myself, just so i know how much to pay out in labour)Say 30mins
Flip
How about the rest of you? Can you remember before and after BPU? Don't mind if its just noiser at full throttle, but how about the in between bits? Otherwise I'll get pulled everytime I go down to my parents quicker than I can say "but I wazzznt drinksing ossifer"! The blue tops don't like noisy cars in the nice villages
hogmaw
Noisy all thru the range. It also depends on the type of exhaust you choose. Get yourself down to the Ace Cafe meet on 24 Jan and you'll see what I mean

merckx
The noise can get a little tiresome if you're not in the mood or using it for a long jouney. I've got a Nur Spec R, it's fairly loud but I've got a baffle I can fit in the back box . It makes it much more of a subdued sound.
Flip
Just read the thread for the Ace Cafe, sounds good... Just have to find someone with full decat and an HKS Superdragger who's going so I can listen!

Flip
I hope its not too loud, I'm getting old see, nearly 30 now... I can't cope with all this noise like you young-uns... I really like the noise at the moment, lovely burble and not intrusive.
merckx
You'll love the sound and performance when you're bpu. Great in built up areas with high buildings on each side, multi-storey car parks too.
Flip
Hard to gauge how noisy it is from a vid, but if you have it to hand Dave? Reckon I might see if I can get down to the Ace Cafe too...
Angarak
Im BPU with no kittens, walbro pump and Superdrager exhaust - can't hear the fuel pump (as mentioned earlier), probably due to exhaust - but I dont find the Superdrager with double-decat to be too noisy. Its not scare-the-kids loud when tootling about, doesnt hum you to death on the motorway, but it does strip paint from walls when giving it death on WOT (the only time you want it noisy)
carl0s
I need to upgrade my jap fuel pump. Is Walbro really the way forward? What about a UK-spec pump? I just don't want it to go wrong ever.
SupraAyf
while were talking about this, a bit of an off topic - how long usually would it take to fit a walbro fuel pump? is it difficult? (not planning to do it myself, just so i know how much to pay out in labour) Easy mate - just do it yourself. I even have loads of pics from when I changed mine a good while ago, just in case they were needed for the forum!
Sheefa
I'd go for a new stock mate despite the expense to be sure. Can't beat reliability of a new stock component thats built to last. Flip, I have a FULL BPU car with no catted HKS Superdragger mate if you want a sound recording? Might come to the ACE Cafe, but a little bit of a mission. Check out the very good MKIVStore Walbro Pump fitting video for a full run down of how to fit one guys.
