Lewis
All, I have a clifford G5 fitted, it has proximity sensors but the only time I can get them to chirp is when I am washing the car (which is good if a thief decides to wash it before nicking it). I am in berkshire atm so am looking for someone who can: Install the serial port which allows me to connect a laptop to it (wizard port?) Increase the sensitivity of the proximity sensors Install remote start and/or turbo timer options. Does anyone have any 1st hand experiences of any installers in my area? Thanks
Guru
On my old clifford (G4) it had a screw turn on the microwave emitter to adjust the sensitivity. G5 might have the same thing. Did you see where they hid it?
Lewis
It was already installed when I bought the car bud. I thought it was all controlled through the GPU, could be wrong though?!?!
Ric
if you have the manual and the valet code & the master remote you would be able to do it yourself. It involves pressing the little 2 button pad you should have in the car (valet switch) in a certain fashion to increase sensativity etc. The wizard port plugs into a little peice of loom what comes out of the alarm box. Then into an extention with the serial adapter on the end, you can find it on ebay usually these days, but most peices of software are a customer version so some features are disabled (but not mentioned in the auction ) Remote start is easy enough to install your self, all it is is 2 relays connected to the imobilisation circuits and then it uses a channel from the alarm which must be set in the cliffnet wizard tool. Or just take it somewhere to do it As for the proxy. it depends if it came with the alarm then its controlled via the alarm, if it was fitted after it might have the adjusting screw on there
Lewis
Im a spanner mate so I'll leave it to a pro to do, I have the original manual, it doesn't mention increasing the sensitivity though (from memory when I last looked) I'll take another look, pretty sure it was all installed together TBH. Thanks
Ric
yeah, it would be a 60second job for a good dealer to increase the sensitivity.

geoffvalenti
Have a word with Matt Harwood, he's not really in your area, but he's a really helpful guy, and may be able to put you on to someone a bit closer to you

martin_a
Careful tweaking it too far. I had to have it turned down on the FTO, didn't like chavs with loud exhausts on their saxos going past it. Might have been the taste sensor actually... seriously though, people parking to the front of the car would set it off however a hand by the window would be fine. To make it chirp from the sides you needed to make as though you were peering in the glass. m.
