ajazyasin
Ive ripped my aircon out and was wondering if i should leave the compressor in situ or remove it and get a smaller belt? your thoughts are appreciated:)
Gamer
I would prob leave it in situ, if only because you will not have to fuff about getting a new smaller sized belt. I have to use a smaller then normal belt because of my PHR alt. I can probably get the correct size over here in the UK, but for the moment I have to rely on getting my spare or replacement acc. belt from Dusty in the States. I have recently found a place in the UK the makes belts, I will try them next time.
ajazyasin
Im planning on an alternator from phr as well. What with all the extra fans and HIDs etc, I think its almost a must. see how you get along with the custom belts... thanks;)
ajazyasin
ps. Am i correct in saying that the a/c compressor doesnt put load on the engine if it is not switched on? The outter ring of the pulley seems to spin freely with quite minimal resistance.
_Rob_
As far as im aware, the AC compressor does not load the engine when not switched on, and disengages when WOT, meaning power losses are non existent when giving it some beans!

I have the relevant Gates belt in my garage if you want me to give you the number? The number stated on the MVP website is for a US belt kit that isn't available in the UK, but you don't need to get the belt from the US. Cost me just under £11. I thought that was the smaller one for the undersized pulley?
Soonto_HAS_soop
No, it is for the one needed for the PHR alternator, which I think actually uses a slightly larger belt.
