Babe
Got one Friday and it's doing my head in... If you've got one, can you tell me if you ever get used to it? Had Nokias for the last 15 years and never had any trouble when I upgraded as they all worked more or less the same way, but this one has confounded me. Got 14 days to return it... Will I get used to it or should I send it back now? /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_sad.gif

lambertpig
im the best one to give advice on this i had one and hated it .great camera and millions of functions but,, the buttons are tiny and not positive ,i have chunckey thumbs and every time i press a key i hit 2-3 buttons in a go takes me ages to dial a number anyway i took it back to the car phone warehouse but it was a month into contract and too late to change so i smashed it to bits in front of gobsmacked staff and customers in a fit of rage i must strees i was polite to staff and apologized for the outburst then i bought a £15 phone and transfered the contract now i am happy but feel stupid as it was an expensive it so a great phone for 12 year old kids with tiny thumbs but horrid for me not recommended!! DaveK
I have an N73 and don't have any problem with it at all. Think it's quite a nice phone actually.
supra_surj
It runs a sybian software which means you can run other applications on it such as sat nav etc. all sybian nokias run very different to standard nokias. some nokias arent even made by them, they just badge them. no help i know but just thought id have my bit. hehe. Konrad
Haha I was exactly same confused at the start with my Nokia N70 - before I got Nokias only too, but with hmmm normal, old menu and few nice shortcuts. Do not worry, you will get used to it after 1-2 weeks and you will personalise navigation buttons - from there it will be way easier. aido
I'm on my third N73, loved the first one but it got nicked, it was unbranded, the second was a Vodafone branded and was awful, got them to swap it out eventually, then got a 3rd one, Vodafone branded and again it was crap, died without noticed and locked up all the time! Anyway, tried upgrading the firmware to the latest on the Nokia site and that made a huge difference, then found the link on the net which tells you how to totally debrand the phone and install the Media Edition firmware which basically turns the phone into something more similar to an iPod than the standard music player could do. It's fantastic now, much quicker, doesn't crash, and I'm well happy with it! In fact just looked and now there's another one, the Internet Edition which is basically the N73 Media / Music Edition with extra stuff like Windows Live Messenger bundled with the phone!! Check it out: http://thenokiablog.com/2006/12/08/how-to-update-nokia-n73-firmware-to-internet-edition/ All you need is a PC and the cable that came with the phone You can check out what software you're running by pressing *#0000# - if it's earlier than October then definitely think about upgrading as you'll see a huge difference, the RTM firmware was dogshit for lack of a better word! Todd
Nokia 6170 not made by nokia but badged. im not talking bollocks.been in the mobile game 8yrs.maybe you wanna sort your facts out first. So who makes it and what else is it sold under? I know about HTC and i-mate and all those phones being rebranded and sold by differnet companies but I also was under the impression that a Nokia was a Nokia and you wouldn't see it under any other maker! Todd
Lol! Who do you think owns Vertu and what technology do you think is under the those pretty cases ? Not what I said mate, I gave an example of HTC and i-mate, people that make phones, sell them under their own brand but also sell to other companies to rebrand with their own logo/make. I just wanted to know who else sells the same phones as the 6170 or other nokias and under what brand?
