Pete
Best advice is...give me lots of cash and I'll sort it. Seriously though - are you thinking of doing it yourself? Do you have a domain name and webspace?

DamanC
In this order peter, if you already havent done so 1. buy a donmain 2. buy webspace (can be combined with number 1) 3. Make website/pay someone to make it 4. Upload it 5. Sit back and relax if your shafted and want a simple one, with the whole lot done for you then you can give me a shout

Gerry
I'm sure that there will be lots of other people on here that can advise you better than me, but I wanted a site for a club I run. It's very easy to do as it uses templates (lots of them) but you can almost start from scratch if you want. Our site is at http://www.wessexblades.co.uk I can find the details, but from memory the name, hosting and designer service cost a one off payment of about £170.00. It was done through xcalible.co.uk. As I said, I'm sure there are better, cheaper companies, but this one was fine for my limited knowledge and time. Cheers G

Rico2006
Not much to add, but dont scrimp on the website. Anyone can create a site, only a few can do it well to give a good proffesional appearance. Its your first point of Contact, and people will base their first impressions on it. http://www.freeparking.co.uk are a good place to sort out your domain name, and their control panel is pretty cool. Angarak
If your paying someone to do it, make sure they're capable of producing a website that is both standards compliant and accessible (DDA applies to websites too!). Dont go for a layout controlled by frames or tables, use CSS. Search engines like keywords placed in certain sections of code, a standards compliant and accessible website should achieve this by default. Then get your website listed on http://www.dmoz.org as most search engines use its database anyway.
