Homer
First off, get the Walbro pump, plugs and FCD fiting BEFORE you fit the decat. Presumably you also have a boost gauge? (and hopefully afr or egt too?). Whats your IC condition like. Check out this link for full details: bpu Yes, it will make a big difference. The jump from 0.8 to 1.0 is big, but to 1.2 is huge. Whitesupraboy2
a big difference with the 1st decat, its the more restrictive of the 2. the car will feel more responsive and the turbos will spool quicker. Depending on the ring you order you'll be boosting to around 1.1 bar now. The standard pump does do the job but for safety people upgrade to a walbro fuel pump but you dont have too its just safer you dont wana go pop

The stock jspec pump new is fine for the job, but with cars like Craig's and mine these are old (10yrs+) and almost certainly past their best. Mine used to fun like crap until I changed the pump, the old one had a clogged filter which caused it to run very lean.
Whitesupraboy2
I agree it is a worth while upgrade but I think there is a fair few on here running standard pumps.... but then like you say we often see a fair few dyno plots going a bit lean
Homer
True, and for the sake of £80 and 30 minutes work its a rather worthwhile mod
Whitesupraboy2
I dont normally bump traders but its only £65 at moment, so definatly worth the cash and peace of mind. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=94658
craig l
thanks guys ill be fitting the boost gauge oil temp gauge plugs and fcd before removing 1st cat ill order fuel pump today seeing as its only £65 from whiffbitz, think its a 1.1 bar restrictor ring ive ordered. ive also been told ill need a boost controller then read some posts saying i wont need 1. i know the jspec turbos are pretty crap so i dont want to kill them fitting a boost controller. sorry if im sounding thick but its my 1st supra and theres a lot to learn about them cheers
Jake
i know the jspec turbos are pretty crap No they're not! They're great. You're just as likely to kill UK turbos by over-boosting so you might as well have the faster spooling j-spec ones.
