No2 turbo not boosting......

Hi guys, just wondered if anyone can suggest what might be the problem or any ideas on whats causing my problem.

I picked my car up last week after having some newly refurned hybrids put on. I drove the car to Bristol Sun night to put some miles on her, havent boosted past .8 for the first 300 miles. On the way back from Bristol I thought I would start to give her some stick to see how she went. The first time no.2 came online and boosted to 1bar, eased off lovelly I thought. Then tried a second time and she hits .8 on no1 but then as no2 comes online she drops to .5. I had someone behind me and they said that she was chucking out some smoke a bit........and each time now no2 doesnt seem to come online and the boost just drops from .8 to .5.

I have had a quick look for any loose pipes, but cant spot anything. I will be taking the car up to Phoenix on Friday for Mark to have a quick look but just wondered in case anyone knew to look for something specific. He got me to try and disconnecting the VSV switch on the inlet side if thats correct as I said to him those two vacum tubes that run in a semi cicrcle back into the VSV, I can hear air pulsating through them in a tic, tic, tic, tic kind of manner and you feel it too when you hold them......

Any idea........apart from that no.1 feels good and no.2 did while it worked briefly.......??????

I'm far from an expert on the stock system, but if its showing a boost drop when switching to #2 then it should mean the wastegate is opening. If a boost DROP is seen when the 2nd tubbie should come online then I can only see that its caused by #2 turbo not coming fully online.

It may also be caused by the IACV not opening fully when on full boost. Details here: http://www.max-boost.co.uk/max-boost/supra/turbo.htm

What was the reason for having the tubbies replaced?

3rd actually Jake :p And these are the set that was orinally replaced by Miami and Dude when my stocks went but both failed with bearing failures after after only 15,000 miles........

So would it worth trying the TTC mod, I have been reading about that and that meses about with the IACV if Im getting this all right.......

What you got there, a log on me :D

I blew my stocks originally and someone off here gave me their set of stocks which dude put on but they went bang on the way home, so I got them built into Hyrbrids which dude fitted for me and they have now had bearing failures, so effectivly I have had 4 sets now yeah, but I dont count the set that went bang on the way home after only 90miles as we suspect ill removing or shipping that caused them to go bang so early............and Im not saying this set has gone bang yet, well I hope not, they were only fitted a week ago....... So Im on my fourth set but have been through 3 sets....... :D Ok...... ;)

dude - my hybrids still going strong... :p

Thats because you drive like a girl :D :p

Well considering we got them done at the same time and by the same person Im surprised, maybe its just one of those things....

But now I have had them rebuilt again by someone else, they did mention that for some strange reason mine had over sized bearings that wouldnt normally be used in stage 3's. I poised the question of could that be the contributed factor in them having bearing failures in the first place, he said he wouldnt like to comment. Of course efverything is built around the bearings so he had to replace them with the same size which he had to order in specifically. So Im hoping that wasnt the factor otherwise I could be heading for another failure within 15,000 miles. I suppose we will never know whether yours had the over sized bearing used or not until the day it happens......but keep that in the back of your mind for ever yours do get pulled apart....;)
