Digsy
Clicky ...and before people start hollering on about how those figures aren't particularly impressive, don't forget that this is a fully durability tested, mass production lump. Take a look at the torque curve, too. *edit* The title should be "The world's most powerful, mass-production 8 cylinder NA engine".

Gamer
Wonder what it would be like with a turbo kit ?
Digsy
Wonder what it would be like with a turbo kit ? I suspect it would behave like a bigger NA engine, but with less low-down torque. C'mon - that's not the point of this thread. Actually, if you plot the BMEP curve (I just did three points at 2000RPM, 5200RPM and 6800RPM) the figures aren't that earth-shattering. >10bar all the way with a leak at 12.8 Very good, but not exactly new. The Porsche 3.6 litre engine with their Variocam setup gets an even fatter curve from a 6-cylinder, twin bank NA engine, which are supposed to be harder to tune. Ian C
Hey, cheating bastards are dynoing at gross power, all their ancillaries are off and there is no air filter or induction system on it I wonder how it'd do with a better exhaust header? Those log ones are great for packaging but how much of a real effect, especially on an NA, does it have on the power output? -Ian
Ian C
And and and it's 6208cc - so it's a 6.2l then, hmmm? And not a 6.3?

I reckon those piccies are too pretty to be proper working dyno shots. I would have thought that the quoted figures were done with the FEAD on, as per a power certification test. Yes, a proper bunch of bannanas exhaust would probably be beneficial, even with the trick intake and camshafts.
Chris Wilson
I rarely visit thos section. Very nice unit, I wonder though what they could achive if not hamstrung by emmissions... ?

paul mac
Very nice unit, I wonder though what they could achive if not hamstrung by emmissions... ? good point Chris if we had to comply with the regs that motor is built to we would all be off the road lol, interesting to see with regard to another thread no knife edged crank either
