Anyone still playing vinyl?

Just curious, I bought a record deck a few years back to listen to all my old vinyl again, lasted for a couple of weeks and got fed up having to change the bloody thing every 20mins :innocent:

Selling all my vinyl on the bay just now http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330070651044 but got to admit that I'll be sorry to see a lot of it go.....memories and all that :(

Mind you, it'll feel good getting Kylie, Jason and Bros out the house as well, they weren't mine..right :p

CUE the oldies!!!!!!!

Ach away and wipe behind your ears :p

Nearly everything is now on the PC in MP3 format but still like listening to them on the PC and reading the lyrics off the LP

As for value, god only knows, I don't know many Kylie come Tubeway army fans :D

I make my living from vinyl. Music sounds horribly synthetic and unnatural when recorded and played on digital equipment. Most young people don't know any better cos they have been brought up on it. There is nothing like the sound of analogue recordings, played on vinyl, on a decent system.

All IMHO, of course...

Yeah that's the blurb my old man gives me :D

I was brought up on vinyl but I much prefer the ipod in my pocket or streaming music through my xbox, far easier and no sound difference for me.

You ever see the band (can't mind which one) on the gadget show, played them back their own song by vinyl, cd and MP3 and they all got it wrong when trying to gues what was what!

But like you guys say, all down to choice. I just miss the the feeling of nipping down woolworths on a Saturday and picking up a new album, twas great :D

Yeh I'm really an old geezer in a young mans body :) . I don't really care for any music recorded after 1976. But I'm not the only one, and I've made my living (I ain't rich, but not poor either) reissuing and selling old records to young and old alike for over 15 years.

My main pro-vinyl points are that 1) nice 12x12 inch artwork and liners (you don't get that on a cd, let alone download :D

2) sound is better (if kept in good condition of course)

3) they are collectable cos they have more retro & nostalgic value than cds (and downloads are worth ZILCH) :sly:
