You did soooo well then, even offered good advice at the beginning!

How about letting the other lovely people of the Isle of Wight help you out in the form of the dole? :D

I know I know...can you imagine how tormented I was typing Facials!!!

Kooks, You need to sit down and really think, we can throw all the ideas in the world at you but it'll be no use if you can't put into words what you can do. If what you want to do is Male dominated then you need to ask yourself if you're willing to put in the effort to not only learn the job you want, but fight the stigma and prejudice associated with being a female in a male dominated sector.

If on the other hand you just need to earn then I would suggest temping at various locations as an office junior, yes I know it's dull be quite honestly 90+% of people work to live, not many get to do what they really really want. Proper orthopedic chairs can help you get over back issue's in an office environment. As can proper exercises and advice from your doctor/a chiropractor.

Look into benefit help so that you can move onto the mainland and get a job there...the govt. may be able to give you help to find accomodation etc...and an agency will find you a temp job.

Whats actually wrong with your back if you dont mind me asking??

Anyone who writes in your medical notes at 19 that you have a crippling back problem that means you cant work should be shot in my opinion. Im a physio and see so many bad backs its untrue and IMO it needs to be something incredible serious for someone to write that. If someone has written that in your notes and not done any further investigations then i would not be happy as it would be harming your future job prospects, when really the problem could be something really simple to sort out. What sort of treatment have you had in the past??

Feel free to PM or email me ([email protected]) the reply, id understand if you didnt want it sprawled across a public forum.

they tried massage which made it worse, different stretches and excercises which did nothing, and then accupuncture which didnt do anything either.

My pain is right down the bottom, the last vertebrae, and it shoots down into my hip joints, down my legs. im on Diazipam because of the pins and needles feeling in my legs.

Sounds like you've got a pinch on the nerves and or blood supply. I expect Gareth knows more but that a chiro will be your best bet if it can be fixed without any invasive procedure (surgery).

These things are usually caused by a fall etc that could have happened years ago...but only start to trouble you as you get older and bigger...it's the load on your skeleton that's increased over the years to cause the issue.

i dont know how i did it exactly, but i noticed the problem through nursing :(

all my family have bad backs :(

I've got a similar problem like you, however not as bad as yours.

Mine was caused due to a sports injury (from 18 onwards), I used to be a fast bowler @ Club level and its fairly common when you are bowling @ 80mph :(

I agree with an earleir post, have a sit down and write out your skills and experiences and what area you want to work in.

Perhaps you could post it up in members area and peope copuld go through it to see where you are strong weak etc.

I may be in a similar position to you soon :D

One thing is relocating an option as I think you will be fairly limited by staying on the island.

Does the island have a job centre ? they cater for all age ranges and can put you in touch with a careers advisor and give you lots of good advice.

Having a dodgy back is not fun, trusat me i know it can really limit your job possibilities, however i don't think you need to divulge that information and by law they can't ask for it.

Good luck.

1. Did they try any mobilisations (ie pressing down on each vertebrae in your back)??

2.Are the pins and needles in both legs??

3. Are you sure you havent done anything else in the past (accident wise) that may have brought it on??

4. How do you feel in yourself, well or tired a lot of the time??

5. Have you lost any weight recently??

6. Did the symptoms come on suddenly or over a period of time??

7. Whats it like in bed and when you are sleeping??

Sorry for all the questions it may help get an idea of whats going on.

Well im down in the south of Spain looking a site in the Costa del Sol to open a sit down fish and chip & home made ice cream restaurant at the mo.

If you fancy working long hours in the sun for a little more than a pittance selling to the Brit’s out here then let me know.

You'll need however to provide your own bikini...

I can even offer accommodation at a discounted rate.
