Kookoocachu
money - I can understand - can you not borrow it off your family? time - what are you keeping yourself occupied with? my family are loosing their house as they are unable to pay their debts. they used to borrow money off of me until i stopped working. i said the time, as i would have to be working to support my learning, which would leave me no time. Regarding the time, many of my friends work and support their Uni education (and thats in London)

SupraStar 3000
Jaymee, If I had your aptitude for entertainment I would be a millionaire. Don't you islanders get a Job section in your local paper?
Charlotte
Is there any way of doing some temp nursing stuff until you can afford college/a YTS scheme in something else? Or even just administration temping if you can use a computer etc. You really have got the best opportunity of changing careers whilst you're still young and at home. Or how about a legal secretary or something? There are quite a few solicitors firms on the island.
mathew
just had a quick google and although there dont seem to be much there this one did come up. having a carers background you got the peoples skills http://www.iwight.com/council/jobVacancies/job_details.asp?VacancyId=3287
Kookoocachu
I cannot nurse or care anymore, as it was damaging my back to much. If i apply for a job in nursing or caring now they check up on my medical records and it will say, cannot work where blah blah blah is invloved. prettly usless nurse ill be. Yes there is a job section, like i said all the decent ones require experience and or qualifications.

Charlotte
I cannot nurse or care anymore, as it was damaging my back to much. Well I'm guessing then that any manual labour is out of the question? What a burden to have something so crippling at 19.
Kookoocachu
I can do manual labour-ish. It was the moving heavy patients, constantly bending into awkward positions, running aorund everywhere, standing nearly all day, patients falling on you. I could do it but needed help all the time, and thats a no no in nursing so under staffed
michael
Pick a place you'd like to work, attach a photo to your CV, post it. Be ready to start the next week. That's how it seems to work here anyway

I understand what you're saying but with any job like plumbing etc etc you will be doing exactly the same lifting and shifting, bending etc or even a garage type job - especially the standing all day bit. Maybe an office job would be more suitable?
