Chris Wilson
I have never had a Sky subscription, but I want Motors TV (NOT Men and Motors, that's different channel altogether...) and as far as I can ascertain I need the basic Sky Package to receive this. However, we already have a dish and decoder box, and can get all the Freeview channels. Do Sky offer any sort of discounted package to people who only need a card, and not a full install? Thanks. jamesmark
My father just got an HD TV and to get the HD channels he had to take out the basic package although he will never use them.
Ewen
This gives a breakdown of the channels Motors TV is transmitted on. http://www.motorstv.com/site/home.php?sec=contenu&Idarbo=22&Idarbo1=123&Idarbo2=227&content=1&id=2749&lg=2&resec= As to Sky, they wont break their 'packages' down into smaller ones. So if its Sky you need to recieve MotorsTV, you will have to subscribe and purchase the package its bundled with AFAIK.
Tricky-Ricky
I think you will have to take out a basic subscription to get Motors TV from Sky, and they don't do discounts, not even for their employees:rolleyes: i recently went HD and had to upgrade my subscription just to make it worthwhile paying the extra for HD:(
Chris Wilson
I take it they'll just post a card out though, if that's all that I want, they won't want to come and put in a new dish and receiver, even though they are charging for them in the package? Thanks for the info.
Ewen
I'm sure the minimum subscription is £15, which gives you two channel package mixes. This subscription is for a minimum of one year I think. The dish and Skybox are free, standard installation is £60. If your existing box can read a Sky card and Sky will send one out, in theory its just the £15 a month....you wont pay the installation fee obviously, but no discount for not requiring the dish and box. SatSport
Just checked, M&M is Free To Air on Astra 28deg, (no sub needed). I`m using the Humax HDCI 2000 sat. receiver but any of the cheaper ones would be ok as well, ie Technomate, Samsung, Manhatten, M- Vision etc EDIT! just re-read! it`s Motors (it`s late ;o) )
Keith C
I take it they'll just post a card out though, if that's all that I want, they won't want to come and put in a new dish and receiver, even though they are charging for them in the package? Thanks for the info. That's right - I had exactly the same when I moved into my curent house.
Conrad
Kinda OT- but how can you pick up channels without paying for them? You know, like nearly every pub abroad does. SatSport?
SatSport
Kinda OT- but how can you pick up channels without paying for them? You know, like nearly every pub abroad does. SatSport? Pubs abroad do pay through a `go between` for their Sky, legally they`re not supposed to have it (outside UK/Ire. jurisdiction), but as it`s more money for Rupert...?!!?? Some of the sat. receivers now on the market can access certain channels (not sky) for free if you have a broadband connection as well;)
