media player problem

i downloaded a windows media player upgrade the other day and it asked to restart it. i did restart the pc but it still doesent work and gives me this error message.. anyone know what the prob might be?

Actually - here's an answer:

 

Open the registry editor and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>MediaPlayer>Setup

In the right-hand pane, locate and double-click on the value "InstallResult"

If the current value of InstallResult is 0xd2af9 or 0xC00D2AFB, change it to 0x0

Exit the registry editor

Restart your computer and see if WMP11 still gives you an error

hmmm, not sure then. I'll have a think.

 

I do recon your windows backdrop might have something to do with it though :lol:

thanks pablo im gonna try that now, after you remind me how to find the registry editor :innocent:

I don't like the newer versions of Windows Media Player. I use a thing called Media Player Classic. It plays everything and doesn't have any of the bloat you get with WMP.

 

i dont like the new media player now either. prefer the one i had just before this, the new mp11 is so crap! :(
