nige
Hi guys does any one's auxilliary belt cranks sqeak and tick especially when cold? is there a cure?maybe a little wd40.
Ric
ticking could possiblly be the injector noise, nothing to worry about there. Sqeaking could possiblly be the aux belt. 10 minute job to change, wd40 is a very crude and quick fix, the noise will come back
nige
Just changed the aux belt and cam belt,my mates sup squeaks as well seems to disappear when warm
Jake
Is the noise coming from the crank pulley itself?
Matt Harwood
Is the noise coming from the crank pulley itself? Yeah, check the bottom pulley. Mine started squealing and the outer section of the pulley fell off the next day!
mattanna
Had this with the Aristo, can happen if you use a gates belt as oppposed to Toyota belt, bizzarely enough talcum powder seems to sort it, not wd though!?
Dave Haggas
All belts need a little lubrication anyway.I always spray a little wd 40 or silicone spray on the belts on all of my cars.(washing up liquid works wonders as well). You would be surprised at the amount of people who seem to have a lot of noise under the bonnet and not realise that they could quieten it down in a few seconds! I challenge you all to go do it now on any car you like,I bet it makes a difference!
Terminator
The simplest way to tell if is the belt or bottom pulley, is to squirt a little water on the ridged side of the belt. If it is the belt, the sound will dissaper only to return in a few minutes.
Matt _Aero top_
I got the same syptoms ( A loud tick sound when cold ) think it could be the bearings in the PS pump thats fecked , funnily it goes away when its warm .......?

Ian C
Your PAS pump bearings can also cause a squeaking/squealing when they are on their way out. -Ian
