SupraStar 3000
I've had my supra for a few years but never managed to figure what the part(s) below are for. Anyone know? http://www.david.c.c.btinternet.co.uk/Resources/item1.jpeg Sits under the drivers throne. Thought it was a radio amp, but it doesn't make any deference to the car or radio when removed! http://www.david.c.c.btinternet.co.uk/Resources/item1a.jpeg Turns but is'nt connected to anything. Maybe somekind of floor matt fixind device. http://www.david.c.c.btinternet.co.uk/Resources/item1b.jpeg No idea what the hell this thing is! Maybe a little R2D2, which rode in the 'X' wing in StarWars? http://www.david.c.c.btinternet.co.uk/Resources/part41.jpeg White switch thats under the glovebox by the handbreak. Doesn't change anything on the car when used! Cheers, Ed
michael
Number 2 is a hook to stop the standard mats sliding forwards and number 3 is a sunlight sensor that ups the output of the AC when it's sunny. The switch could be for anything, maybe some kind of basic immob installed by a previous owner and then bypassed later? Can't help with the box under the seat I'm afraid. Mad Ad
First one could be something to do with the seat motor?
SupraStar 3000
Thats two of the mystery items solved. Must admit, I kind thought the 2nd pic was to do with floor matts but its nice to get that confirmed. sunlight sensor!! thats cool .... literally would never have thought of that. Cheers mcanny. "seat motor" good idea, makes sense cuz I can find only one unit under the drivers seat and the co-pilot/passenger is manual adjusted. I'll try it later Mad Ad. btw: nice aviator. Thanks guys. JamesG
Loads of jap-spec supras have the mystery box under the drivers seat, although it doesn't appear to be standard equipment. I posted a thread about it ages ago: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6595 Consensus was that it looks to be some kind of transmitter/receiver perhaps for an alarm, tracking, pager or tolls. That doesn't narrow it down much James.
paul mac
i was allways under the impression the box under the seat was an arial amp for mobile phone ! but i could be wrong

Matt Harwood
Nope, 'cause it only has a single aerial output, that goes up into the A pillar. It doesn't share an aerial with anything else, nor connect to anything else. The wiring harness can be completely removed as it plugs in on a multi pin plug under the dash, on a kinda Y loom. Unplug the plugs and connect the two car ends together, drag the cable, (aerial), from the pillar, and hey prest, removed... Still have no idea what it is though...
