Guest davet
Hi folks, first of all hope you all had a good xmas and a happy new year to you all too I currently live near Keighley in Yorkshire and my Sup is in need of a service. There's no way I'm off to see Toyota after my last two disasters. Can anybody recommend a place to go in the skipton, bradford, leeds, bolton or manchester area please? Cheers Dave:)
michael
I used to know a guy in Skipton, ex Toyota WRC, sadly he went mental, sold everything and disappeared

There's no way I'm off to see Toyota after my last two disasters. Can anybody recommend a place to go in the skipton, bradford, leeds, bolton or manchester area please? Cheers Dave:) By coincidence, I live in this area, now own a Supra and I'm looking for somewhere to get it serviced locally. Does the recommendation for Hypersports still hold true or should I try somewhere else? Anybody have any experience of "P.R.Autos Independent Toyota Specialists" in Crosshills? Thanks
michael
Anybody have any experience of "P.R.Autos Independent Toyota Specialists" in Crosshills? I'd forgotten all about them! I used them years ago to fix a Helix clutch in my MR2 Turbo - good set of chaps back then, reasonable rates and did a really good job in good time - are they still in the little industrial estate off Station Rd? Where about are you Spartan? I'm from Skipton originally and still have family in the area, will have to keep my eyes open for Supras

Yep - still there. Based on what you've said, I might ring them up and ask them if they've got any experience with Supras. Where about are you Spartan? I'm from Skipton originally and still have family in the area, will have to keep my eyes open for Supras I'm in Cowling but not "Cowling born and Cowling bred: thick in arm and thick in 'ead!" (well, maybe the last bit). The only other Supra I've seen around these parts (disregarding those at Keighley Trade Centre - ahem! Mine did not come from there!) is a red one (looks to be UK spec.) in Silsden and I haven't seen that for ages.

My Great Grandma was from Cowling, lived right up the top end, you are right on the edge of some fun driving roads then, I miss them

Right up, actually, on the moor above Ickornshaw. Yes, some good driving roads round here. My favourite though is the A65 from Skipton out to the M6 If only the quality of the road surfaces was better though. I'm fed up with having the steering wheel yanked out of my hands by potholes, etc; changing my J-spec stock springs for UK with Bilstein shocks. michael
We live up the top end! Right up, actually, on the moor above Ickornshaw. She was on Park Lane, seems a bit overdeveloped up that way now though, too many new housing estates. Yes, some good driving roads round here. My favourite though is the A65 from Skipton out to the M6 I lived up that way too but they ruined the A65 when they took away all the overtaking points and started cruising around in unmarked cars all the time I tended to head up to the A684 quite a bit or the A682 if I was heading your way, now that it's branded as a dangerous road I presume it's policed and single white lined though, it's been a while. If only the quality of the road surfaces was better though. I'm fed up with having the steering wheel yanked out of my hands by potholes, etc; changing my J-spec stock springs for UK with Bilstein shocks. Agreed, like a fool I went the other way and actually stiffened everything up with KYB AGX shocks and Eibach springs, it's not the nice relaxing cruiser it used to be, it's a little tiresome at times, you've done it the right way for that area anyway Let me know how you get on with the place in Crosshills. spartan
Picked the car up this morning, after leaving the car with this independent Toyota place in Crosshills (between Skipton, Keighley & Colne). I was away from home all week so I just left the car with them. I've only recently acquired this VVTi from another club member who I think maybe had done some of the servicing himself. I don't have a problem with that but I just wanted a good 'starting point' for my period of ownership. So I asked them to give the car a full service (I mean all the normal stuff but changing all the cars bodily fluids too) and timing belt change. I thought the VVTi might stump them when it came to changing the timing belt but they weren't at all phased (pardon the pun) - I guess the VVTi system isn't so uncommon on other Toyotas these days. Anyway, they did all the work I asked with no drama (the pulley bolt was a pig to get off but they knew it would be) and MOT'd it too. I was very impressed and thought I'd just put in a good word for them here in case anyone was looking for reliable, no-nonsense servicing in this area. P R Autos Ian is the man there - nice guy and honest. If you decide to give them a try, mention the forum. Obviously they can get parts but they're more than happy for you to provide your own if you think you can get them cheaper. Hope that helps! spartan
Yeah - thanks. I probably wouldn't have had the confidence to try them if it wasn't for your feedback either. For me, or more specifically, my car - more or less stock and no intention to change that (how many members start off saying that I wonder? ) - it's a good find. Of course, I'd still use a Supra 'expert' if I thought I had a model-specific problem or needed anything other than regular servicing. I should mention that I did contact Michel Lane who was very helpful and quotes were good. The only reason I chose not to use him this time was because Darlington would have meant a day-trip for me. Guest poodle
im from skipton / keighley / earby myself, not really seen any supras around, but there again i only got mine last night. ill keep an eye out for the locals. I think i used PR autos once before many moons ago, are they down just around the corner from keighley strayed centre? or down by fun planet? spartan
On the same estate as Fun Planet (that would make a good name for a Supra servicing place too!), just on the right as you turn in, backing on to the railway.
Guest poodle
what about a bodyshop, the front kit and skirts needs a respray
spartan
I have found Aire Valley Auto Paint to be very good (located on the same estate as KTC but definitely NOT connected) - the wife's car is probably down there two/three times a year [sigh]. Call 01535 636058 and speak to Tony but be warned - he's a super bloke; been in the business for donkey's years AND could talk the hind legs of a donkey. Personally, I think it's great to be able to talk to someone (who's going to be working on your P&J) like you can to Tony but only start a converstion with him if the other-half/kids, etc. aren't waiting in the car for you!
