Nic
I'm having problems connecting to the internet at the moment, due to an earthquake in the area last night. I have contacted my ISP and they tell me it has effected a lot of the international access from Asia. I felt a small tremor last night and was having problems after then. Strangely the only website I seem to be able to connect to is this one (although connection speed is very slow). I am not able to access other sites I usually use, or access my .mac email account. No one seems to know how long it will take to resolve the problem, so for the meantime if you need to contact me, can you either pm me or post in my Import Pimp section please. Guest Ent
as far as i can see, most* sites and connection is back to normal in HK now. i forgot how many, think it was 6 sea bed lines that has broken (if thats what they are called.......) around Taiwan. Nic
I'm still having problems, this one is the only one that I can connect to, but it is running slow and I keep loosing the connection. I can't even connect to most local HK websites. I have an ISP connection, but it seems their internet connection is the problem. I was told it was a problem in Taiwan that was causing the issue. Nic
I've been told that some of the fiber optic cables to Taiwan were damaged in the earthquake, they are trying to restore limited service in the next couple of days, but it could take 1.5-3 weeks to fix completely

Nic
as long as MKiv forum works mate Yes I suppose I should be grateful for that, I seem to be able to connect to UK and HK sites only at the moment. I can't connect to Pay Pal or my Mac server which is making things difficult
Alex
Yeah you've got 7 optic trunks in the area...6 are/were dead after the 7.1 Earthquake...the 7th is damaged and not able to hold full bandwidth. At least the EQ didn't hurt people
Gaz6002
I heard a rumour that: Most affected circuits SHOULD be back up within 2 days, but the repairs could take up to 7 on non-protected circuits due to a special boat being required for the repair. Nic
It's like using a 56K dial up line at the moment. I was told it may be 2-3 weeks before full normal service is back. I was sat here when the earth quake happened, I just felt my feet wobbling, first thought was that I'd drunk too much
Gaz6002
I would think it should be closer to a week mate but if I hear different I will keep you updated!
Nic
I now have full internet access restored, but the service has slowed down to a crawl, pages are taking up to minutes to load and keep hanging in the middle. Negotiating the forum has become almost impossible, as a result I'm finding it very difficult to answer posts and pm's. Both my email account are working now, so if you need to contact me can you email to the address in my sig please for the meantime.
