Jim_1979
Ok... My dimmer switch is buggered which results in a fuse blowing for the dash lights. If I unplug the switch, then no lights come on. I have Prof Monkey getting me one, but in the mean time is there a way to bypass it? By somehow connecting to connections on the plug for the dimmer switch?? Does this make sense?? Hope so! thanks
Chris Wilson
You can, I have, but I forget which 2 wires I joined.
Jim_1979
Can't be that hard to suss out. There's only 3 wires/connections (I think). Trial and error... lots of fuse popping!!... lol. Any chance you could have a look chris? Or do you not have the car anymore?? Or if anyone else knows, or has wiring info?? thanks
JustGav
Use a multimeter, the wires should be.... 1. 12v 2. GND 3. variable voltage out. Using a multimeter, you should be able to determine which is ground, leaving two wires which are the two to join. Gav
TrickTT
white with a black stripe is ground on the light circuit
Jim_1979
so one will be 12v, one earth.... and I can just connect these two together right?? edit : just read chris' message again. So ignore the ground and connect the other two??

So ignore the ground and connect the other two?? Correct, logic would seem to dictate that, and it should give full dash lights.

Supra2jze
Hi all, Everything seemed to be working just fine when I last drove the supra for a mini test about a month ago. The active cruise control has always been tempromental but I think I've got a similar problem with regards to the dimmer switch. 'TRC Off' 'Diff Oil' etc all do not illuminate. Any ideas ? Chris Wilson
Warning light in-operation is often down to dry solder joints on the panel PCB. Resolder them. Dimmer switches sometimes fail due to people adding gizmos with illumination that draw too many Watts from the dimmer switch and burn it out, or who do things with the dash wiring and inadvertently short out the switch output side. Supra2jze
I did change the gauges from green to neon blue & I also installed the double din Nav... I will have a look at wiring. Thanks
