hadyn
Is it possible to clean the o2 sensor with say carb cleaner etc? Will this have any benefit to the sensor if its cleaned?
Thorin
Leave it in lemon juice overnight, then clean with carb cleaner. New ones are about £120 from toyota... or less a lot less from Nic but you'll have a long wait. Chris Wilson can supply one that you just need to swap the connector over on for about £80 I think. JohnA
I wouldn't bother cleaning the sensor, if you go through the effort of replacing, why do it twice? It is a miniature battery after all, it decays with age/usage. Cleaning only works if it has been covered in carbon soot because of unusually rich running (but even then, what if the rich running was caused by the dead sensor itself?) Ric
yeah they are cheap enough to just replace
Nic
I agree with John, if you are going to the trouble of removing it, I would replace with a new one. It may seem a little pricey to buy a new O2 sensor, but the difference in fuel economy it makes, it will soon pay for itself in saving on your fuel bill. Give me a shout if you would like prices.
