you can get it working without the ecu, I did (because I set fire to the ecu, lol) if you don't have the wiring loom for it don't bother trying its to complicated, but you can get it working manually with the standard switch, you just need two relays

Yeh I am not bothered about the speed related side of it.Just want it down 99.9% of the time and able to lift it for those lovely speed bumps that I encounter far too many times.I would guess that you send a positive and negative to the motor and then just reverse the polarities to spin it the other way and motor has a built in timer relay?

Its not quite a simple as that, there are position switches as well, bear with me I will see if I can find the post of mine from about 6 months ago.

 

The way mine is installed allows you to have full control over it, like you say, have it down most of the time and up for pesky speed bumps
