pistonbroke
Nic, really sorry to hear of your plight, silver lining though, is that your in a pretty good position compared to most to get the car sorted, what with your access to parts and all. The intercooler I'm sure could be flushed out and re-used. When instances like this happen, I find its best to just think about how the car will be when its eventually repaired, and look forward to driving her once again. Chin up mate, you'll sort it soon enough

mwilkinson
Sorry to hear about the car Nic. As pistonbroke says just look forward to how she will be in the future. Is there any chance you can claim anything through the insurance??

fredm
Are you saying bits of the compressor gone "through" the intercooler and ended up into the engine ? Thats amazing, I'd love to see a picture of that. Bits of turbine going back through the exhaust valve I can imagine as they were probably spinning at 100,000 revs at the time. You have my sympathy Nic.
pistonbroke
I've been thinking about this today and I'm thinking the same as fredm. I've heard of plenty of jap ceramic turbos going pop but the engine has always survived without any problems. The blades of the turbo could have ended up in the exhaust obviously because one of the turbines is on the exhaust side. But making it through your intercooler...................I'm not so sure thats right.
