ADD
morning all, i wanna get a work mate of mine a real nice bottle of white wine but know nothing about them, can anybody give me advice on which one to get? cheers add
Green Peace
For White you could try Pino Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre, or a Chablis. These are the easiest and easy to find on the shelf. As to what year if you get a choice i have no idea. (these are in the £6 to £15 or so range) Personally I like Sancerre, very smooth like me ha ha! If you want something more special (or obscure) then i have a freind who really knows his wines as he lives on a vineyard in France, and i have to talk to him on the dog n bone tommorow so i will report back (i Need a few tips myself too) Otherwise must be sum wine snobs:tongue: on here can't be all lager louts surely:p Tesco (and Waitrose) do a really good thing where they have a finest range picked by a wine connessior so if ya not up on wines you could take pot luck, they describe on the label what it goes with wether its fish or meat and its Vineyard history etc:tongue: The Times Wine site is a good place for ideas http://www.sundaytimeswineclub.co.uk/default.aspx?&imi=google&mrc=YL52 More in Depth History and taste etc http://www.thewinedoctor.com/regionalguides/loirecentre.shtml Hope this is Helpful doh

Sheefa
I'll think you find it's 'red' Pete Great wine if you ever come across it is the Woodland Estate Chardonnay from Australia. Best white I've ever tasted and I was working as a wine 'expert' (hhmm,) for over 5 years at my local restaurant, so got to taste PLENTY! Can't beat a bit of Pino though! Ian W
i quite like Hardy's Crest australian chardonnay that i get from Tesco. have been given a couple of new bottles to try by my boss as a christmas gift, one of them being an organic Australian Chardonnay......will report back later
tbourner
I'll always buy Australian wine now, and almost everyone who I've told to buy Oz wine has been converted too!!! We're talking below £20 price range here though I'm sure there are better wines if you want to spend more.
Shane
Tescos are also selling their special reserve cava cheap at the moment, great for pretend Kir royale or on it's own. I know it's red and you wanted white, but they have also got Chateu neuf du pap for less that 7 quid which is unheard of here and is also about £6 quid cheaper than their normal price, it's really, really good. Chateauneuf du pape ...my favorite red, but also fond of some of the lesser known reds..like 'Gaillac' bought several crates of that back last year and have filtered their way though the Supra site one way or another;) Might try the Tesco exclusive ones you mentioned...but hey Im in France this Christmas in my 4x4 to cope with the difficult terrain of boarding the ferry on the return with a boot full of plonk (for personal consumption and boy do i get thru it)he he...dont ask me to bring fags back;) Happy Christmas Everyone. Si x We did a run to France last weekend and stocked up too. If you drink a lot of wine it makes so much sense to do a run and fill up everynow and then. Took the Supra and had a really good day out in Bolougne. Spent £200 in E'lerclerc on booze, and filled the car up. Would have filled a carrier bag up at UK prices! Have a good one too.
