hodge
I have a j-spec TT. At present the car is fitted with:- Walbro pump 1st Decat HKS Hi-power exhaust (cat back). E01 Boost controller also used as a FCD (with external harness). Induction Kit. Front mount intercooler with hard pipes. Also what sort of power would I be looking at if I fitted a 2nd decat and restrictor ring. if i can hit the big 400BHP ill be happy with that, (for now i suppose). Chris Wilson
I'd say about 320 to 340 BHP
wkdtime
I'd say about 320 to 340 BHP ATW's obviously.
SupraJames
320 to 340 sounds about spot on, I run a UK Spec with similar set-up just with IK24 plugs and Full decat and at 1.1 bar boost it ran 375 at the hubs.
hodge
What some of extra mods would I need for 400BHP then
SupraJames
Poss bigger injectors, maybe go up to 550's and FPR, may need hybrid turbos to as the J-Spec ones would max out before 400 I think, but im no tech expert. I also have a 1.6mm HKS Head Gasket fitted, but not sure how much difference that makes.
SupraAyf
What some of extra mods would I need for 400BHP then Tuned up hybrids or even a small single on low pressure would do the job mate.
Sheefa
I'm on Hybrids, standard j-spec injectors, full decat running no more than 1.1 bar boost. Old owner had 430-35 at the the fly (380 wheels iirc) on 1.1 bar before the hybrids were fitted - got the dyno printout. So, I should hit the 400 mark I think at the wheels with this turned up to 1.2? New FMIC to accomodate etc. Am I dreaming?
bolarbag
Are you not at risk of running seriously lean with an attempt at 460odds running standard jap injectors? What does the Sup lose through the Tranny?I thought it was around 15-20% on a manual...not sure about an auto...u running any piggy back ecu or fuel controller? Graham S
If its any comparison I ran 404bhp with a full decat and HKS hiper exhaust! But thats a UK spec manual..
Sheefa
Bolarbag, I'm not pushing it any further unless I sort out the fuelling, new injectors and EManage etc. Chris Wilson says it's safe for the timebeing so I'll take his word happily. To be honest, I rarely creep above 1 bar of boost! So should be fine at the mo. Greg
Homer
If its any comparison I ran 404bhp with a full decat and HKS hiper exhaust! But thats a UK spec manual.. They're talking rear wheel hp mate 400rwhp on stocker or hybrids is out of the question IMO, unless you visit someone with a hub dyno Thats small single territory. Stock injectors simply cannot flow enough fuel to make that sort of power.

I dont think ANYONE has managed that before, certainly not on this forum anyway. Your car must be special./.
JohnA
No, flywheel horsepower. Chris, you're in killjoy mode. These are festive days, do you really think anybody wants to hear The Truth? ...C'mon, throw the dog a bone...
Chris Wilson
I tell it as it is, Christmas or not I spend too much time around engine dynos to give credence to 90% of rolling road figures. A friend has a Dyna pack, I have to ask him to give a "real" reading whenever I take anything there, as he is forced to give unrealistic ones in order for the boy racers to use his facility, and who pay for his rent. Sad, but the rolling road lot tend to just get sucked into a spiral of inflated figures to keep the customers `appy.

I call it 'Power to the People' Sadly, not much has changed since I wrote that piece. In fact, RR inflation has got worse. Perhaps we need a correcting action for the market, same as in economics:D
jase_93tt
When my supe was BPU (2nd decat, 1.2bar, full stainless 90mm bore exhaust, aftermarket filter, 3row FMIC, decent plugs- 1 grade colder than stock), I got an average of 290rwhp-300rwhp on the dyno. Mines a Jspec auto btw.
