Chris Wilson
Sheefa: If it's your first track day just use what's on the car. The Pirellis I was talking about are P-Zero Corsa's a road legal track tyre, same with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. "Cup" being the operative word. Wez
I have not been able to find any Pirellis Corsas in stock 17" sizes yet but have been quoted £636 for a complete set of R888s delivered.
Bobbeh
Thats a pretty good price Wez, cheaper than what I got mine for. I tried Chris' source for the Pirellis and they would have been around £850 for stock sizes when I spoke to the guy, which was only £100 more than what I got my Toyos for (fitted) - tbh the only reason I didnt go for the Pirellis is the garage I usually go to wouldnt fit them for me I think I will try them or the Cups next time as as Chris says, I dont think the Toyos would last more than 3 track days. But I'll be able to confirm this suspicion after the next one Dont get me wrong tho, the Toyos were so grippy, and great for a first few track days. I'd still recommend them. Chris Wilson
What available in terms of insurances for tracks days? My biggest worry (and probably that of others) is what can you do if you stack it, or worse, if someone else crashing hits you? 99% of people accept it as an acceptable risk, but you can get cover. I have never bothered.

Try Silverline Tyres on 01926 490 002 That's where I buy my Pirellis from
Chris Wilson
How long before these sell out do you recon? I'm itching to press the book button. the weather is always a risk at that time of year... but it's not often there is a no db limit! *edit - I pressed the book button! lets hope it stays dry... and just how many people will they let into that particular track day? - I can't find an answer on the site... About 36 or so. It's much more fun in the wet...
Pete
or worse, if someone else crashing hits you? Hmm.. I hadn't considered that before. I've always just thought of my own incompetence.
Keith C
Hmm.. I hadn't considered that before. I've always just thought of my own incompetence. It's my biggest concern - while I trust myself to back off when I hit my limits, I'm less sure about others, and knowing my luck, it would be me they hit! Bobbeh
Well if you're worried about yourself take it to a track like Bedford where it doesnt matter if you get it wrong. Most of the people at the day I went to drove like grannies in comparison and if you see someone catching up, just give them room to get by. As soon as you get out there racing you'll know its just great fun and you'll relax and feel more confident about the whole set up as the laps add up. Pete
I think I'd rather just take the kit. At least if anyone hits me I'm not likely to know too much about it to get upset.
Bobbeh
You'd probably have more fun in that too, isnt that the whole reason cars like that are built? I mean theres no practical point to them other than being like a Go-Kart.
Chris Wilson
I think I have seen one 2 vehicle incident in literally hundreds of track days, and they both knew each other and were baiting each other, it was obvious that "something" was going to happen

Bobbeh
Brakes, tyres and a service (fresh oils, coolant etc) is usually all you need to safeguard against problems
