DaveK
Problem is - although I agree with everything on the website I still want a PS3 more than an Xbox. Although I've heard that PS3 may not be in the UK until September now - and will cost £600+ - and I don't want it that much.

The Nintendo Wii looks like a fair piece of kit as long as you don't throw the control at the telly!! Then again the bloke who wrote that might be getting a visit from the dark suit and sunglasses people himself.! H.

I have almost every console since I was a boy, I got my Wii yesterday and TBH Hardware wise its actually not that impressive, but the innovation on how to play it is awesome. Im actually aching all over today.

Plus like you said it is getting you active aswell. H.

When I told her that was the Wii she said we should buy it - but I don't really want a non-HD console.

DaveK
Marketing at its best..... Actually - probably not in this case. I haven't paid much attention to what the PS3 can / can't do. My preference is based on the fact that I did have a PS2 - which I thought was pretty good, and the PS3 will obviously be better. And - Xbox is microsoft. Whatever people's opinion of Sony is, my opinion of microsoft isn't particularly high either.

DaveK
Thats a bit niave mate I'm not sure niave is the correct word. The improvement in visual quality matters to me, even if it doesn't to you. Otherwise why would I have bought an HD TV in the first place? TV programs are the same. Mike
The thing with the Wii is that Nintendo have made a fairly bold statement in that they've come out of 'the graphics race' (let Sony and MS duel that one out), but instead are concentrated on playability and opening up new markets outside us geeky males.... Like the dance mat thing and SingStar, I've no doubt they will generate more revenue appealing to non-console players than MS would with ten Gears of War clones.... I've not see or played the Wii yet but I'm really hoping the application for the controllers don't run out too quickly... from where I'm sat now it's like releasing an entire console on the premise of the Eye Toy or something..... I want them to succeed. It's just a shame Mario couldn't have been there for launch....
MrRalphMan
Don't know about the consoles, but I was a bit worried as our corporate proxy blocked the link under the catagory of Tasteless..

Just take a look at the DS, its exactly the same principle, everyone thought it was just going to be a fad, you know, touch screen, no supreme graphics etc, but its selling far better than anything else, kicking sony into touch. the Wii is just games but controlled better. the only application where i cant see the Wii remote working to well is a beat em up like smash brothers. otherwise every other game i can think off can be made so much better being released on the Wii
