R Black
Will a TRD Sports Thermostat, put undue pressure worth worrying about on a Supra cooling system?
Jake
What is its supposed advantage over the stock thermostat? I mean, when the engine is up to operating temp the stock stat is fully open anyway, isn't it? So where's the benefit of a TRD one?
R Black
I Quote "Upping the valve opening pressure of the pressure regulator on the radiator cap to allow higher radiator pressure increases the boiling point of the coolant, reduces bubbles, improves cooling, and generally maximizes the cooling performance of the radiator. We increased the valve opening pressure of the TRD radiator caps to 127 kpa (1.3 kg/cm2) and 147 kpa (1.5 kg/cm2). Thus, another full-fledged design that arose from racing car development makes its appearance." Like i said i'm just quoting TRD & i see your point

Jake
I'm even more confused now. You asked about TRD thermostats I asked a question about them You then posted a quote about TRD radiator caps I asked what the relevance was You said "not a lot" Am I missing the joke here? Jim_1979
I had one on my mr2 turbo. The temp needle always sat a little lower on the car from the stock thermostat. As far as I was aware, it simply started to cool the car earlier than what it normally would. (if that makes any sense at all??)
Ric
yes the trd thermostat is ment to open "sooner" or at a lesser temp thus cooling the car quicker or somthing
uk-rich
trd opens at 72 deg stock is 82 deg if memory serves
