SteveR
There are 3 'tabs' at the base of the bulb, that insert & twist into position in the socket that holds the bulb. To fit, there needs to be 1 large tab and 2 small ones, but the 9005 bulbs come with 2 large and 1 small tab, so you have to trim one of the larger tabs back slightly (2mm or so). I found out wich one by putting the bulb into the socket as-is, spinning it round to find which way it fitted as best as possible (2 of the tabs will sink into proper position), then trimmed the other one back ever so slightly and the result was spot on. Just make sure you; - trim the most suitible tab, and - trim away the correct 'side' of it; best bet is to closely look at what you're doing when trying to fit it in the socket before trimming, and it shuold be pretty obvious. EDIT - actually I might be talking about 900*6* bulbs, not 9005. Look at this post. Trimming lugs (if it applies) is parlty described here, which should accompany my description of things reasonably well
Jake
I don't remember having the issue Steve has mentioned. The only problem I recall was the bulb to harness connection. Try plugging the bulb into the wiring harness and then look to see why it doesn't fit. You'll notice the part that needs trimming on the bulb. dangerous brain
Its just a lug on the bulb that prevents it from being fitted into the bulb holder. Hold the new bulb in the hole and you'll see what I mean. Simply get a pair of strong snips and clip the too big lug down to size and woolah it fits. It is as easy and uncomplicated as that. Jake
My memory must be failing me again then! Wasn't there a problem with the connectors that meant a small bit needed trimming so the wiring harness could fit onto the bulb?

Yeah I think I've bodged up and described 9006 bulbs instead of 9005 bulbs - always causes me some confusion.

Hot or very sharp knife will shift that no bothers.
