With the release of Vista I'm thinking there maybe a few more soon. ;)

I don't own an Apple Mac. I'm an OSx86 homebrew. I'm loving the whole Apple ethos and current ad campaign.

Only real annoying thing is I can't get the " marks where they should be - above the number 2!!

I hope so too! I am quite pleasantly surprised to read you're a Windows user with a thing for Macs. A bit like living with a blonde and quite fancying a brunette ;)

You wouldn't believe the arguments I've been involved in over the years over Mac vs PC etc! Its almost as fundamental as Evolution vs Creation itself!

Ah you mean the '@' missing above the number 2, as I find on this my girlfriend's pc at home!

I'm sure CW could get a USB to serial adapter quite easily for his problem.

It's now they're running on top of BSD (The best OS IMHO) and Intel ;)

All the power of UNIX, with a marvellous interface to boot. :D

They're very hit and miss and the Motec software (and other) can be VERY fussy over what it works on.

They bloody are, but they can be made to work well. I found the Prolific driver installer to be a bit weird. It said it had installed the latest version but actually hadn't done. Then I noticed that there were two drivers in the package - one for a "Serial Bridge" and the other for a "Serial ... controller or somesuch". One worked well in the end, but plugging the unit into a different USB port resulted in the other driver being used.

Once set up properly though, it did work a treat. I used it to flash firmware on a HP Procurve unmanaged switch (still fw upgradable though..)
