Kranz
I have bought 9 of these in bulk from the USA as its cheaper to buy this way. I have 6 left (3 for myself) that I can offer to club members at a fraction of the UK price. Ideal for transmission cooling (a pair would work well in the SMIC ducting?) or a single for power steering cooling? Details: Fluidyne Extra Heavy Duty Low Pressure Drop/High Flow 18,000 BTU (17,000 BTU to 25,000 BTU depending on air velocity), 25,000 lbs GVW Rating Automatic Transmission Cooler: Super Performance Part #10029. Only 1" thick by 18" X 8 3/4" Overall. Weight 38 oz. Hi-Tech Patented 9-Pass Design with each tube having 9 channels (please see cross section picture) Provides Maximum Cooling Efficiency: up to 50% more cooling over traditional coolers of the same size, rugged construction. This Hi Capacity Cooler Can be mounted behind the radiator for ease of installation with good cooling results. Selling Just the Cooler, No Mounting Hardware Included. Connect with 3/8" (10mm) ID Hose. UK price for the inferior 6 row cooler is £50 plus postage. I'm giving them away at what they cost me = £25 plus postage at £5. Total £30. If paypal please add 3.2%+20p as I don't want to loose money on these. VAT and import duty has already been paid. So you don't have to worry about that, which you would have done if buying form the USA yourself.

Gruggs
seeing as these all went so quickly would it be worth considering a group buy on the items??? Cheers G
ajazyasin
Sounds good to me. Im guessing you could use these for cooling power steering fluid?
Kranz
At the time I ordered these I couldn't do group buys.... new club rules Group buy is a good idea, as buying in bulk in 18's is even cheaper Would have a long wait (8 weeks) by surface shipping though. Rough price would be £17 each plus uk duty (£2.77) and P&P (at around £4.75 for one or £7.70 for two) if sent cheapest surface mail. Cheaper as shipping cost is not much different between 9 or 18. So, delivered price for one = £24.52 or for a pair = £47.24....... Phew! That was complicated
Kranz
Sounds good to me. Im guessing you could use these for cooling power steering fluid? Yep, and for the axle on UK cars. 2 or more (up to 4???) for auto trans cooling fitted in the SMIC ducting is a good idea too. That's a maximum of 8 per car!! michael
....what exactly are the real life benefits of these transmission coolers..... A cooler transmission
Kranz
Apparently the auto trans likes to run as cool as possible. Heat kills the fluid, which in turn stop protecting the clutch packs so they wear out. If the clutch packs wear out then they slip and eventually there is no drive. Both the torque converter and the clutch packs produce heat. The cooler the trans runs, the longer it will last. 9 out of 10 transmission faliures are due to excessive heat. A higher than standard stall torque converter will require as much cooling as possible.
imi
I see, so not much use for a manual then....
Kev.O
So can these be used for the diff cooling? If so will they fit like for like or will they need some fabricating? Maybe Michael can answer this as he helped imi
michael
They can be used for cooling any liquid you want, they should fit where the standard diff cooler did but these are MUCH bigger so you might need to do a bit of modding
Jim_1979
so do they fit where the stock smic fits for transmission cooling?? Do they have to go there?... lol. Anything else needed to use these? I'd be interested in transmission cooling side of things. I'm BPU, but surely you can't go wrong with being carefull?
