SupraStar 3000
I was looking at this 5 Speed Gearbox but couldn't remember what I have heard on this forum. Stupid question, I know, but which gearbox would be best for a NA-T and manual coversion? TT or like this one, a NA? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-SUPRA-2JZ-NON-TURBO-5-SPEED-GEARBOX-MK4-MKiv_W0QQitemZ170062420487QQihZ007QQcategoryZ10428QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks, Ed
adi2009
6spd getrag would be a better option if u want to run high hp figures. However, I enjoyed the ratios of the 5spd setup a bit more though. Especially if your going to be sticking to the speed limit.
Daston
5 speed is good for around 400rwhp from what I have heard

Gazzawu
if ur lucky go for a r154 box from a mkIII (cheap as chips and plenty of them around) and mate that with a 1jz bellhousing and flywheel. boostlogic have recently launched a kit to do this. the r154 should be ok for up to 700rwhp. however personally i would go for the getrag 6spd. but ur gonna have to change the whole drivetrain for this. What bits would you need to swop for the r154, prop or not? (Just seems too good if not)
SupraStar 3000
thanks for the info. I'll bear that in mind appreciated
bondango
For an r154 conversion to a 2jz, your going to need a decent R154 gearbox (thrusts go on them quite easily so would need to be a decent one), 1JZ bellhousing, 1JZ flywheel, 1JZ Clutch assembly, modifed support member, and IIRC custom prop though these can be made for less than £150. The r154 being originally a toyota Truck/offroad box is one of the beefiest 5 speeds out there so it can take a lot of power. Ive put 500+hp through one without any probs. Ratios are quite good to :- Ratios: First Gear: 3.250:1 Second Gear: 1.955:1 Third Gear: 1.310:1 Fourth Gear: 1.00:1 Fifth Gear: 0.753:1 The W58 :- First Gear: 3.285:1 Second Gear: 1.894:1 Third Gear: 1.275:1 Fourth Gear: 1.00:1 Fifth Gear: 0.783:1 Reverse: -3.768:1 and the V160 First Gear: 3.830:1 Second Gear: 2.360:1 Third Gear: 1.680:1 Fourth Gear: 1.310:1 Fifth Gear: 1:1 Sixth Gear: 0.790:1 If you were to run with the V160 1st gear would useless you change the diff to suit. bromy
If you are gong to all the trouble of a manual conversion then the getrag (tt box) is a no brainer IMO, dont bother with the standard na box (w58) unlesss you only want to put around 300hp through it on a standard clutch, 400hp will require a cluch upgrade but then you are putting a little more strain through the box and your problems will possibly begin. Gazzawu
Ive put 500+hp through one without any probs. why have u put a r154 in a mkiv before?
bondango
why have u put a r154 in a mkiv before? No, it was in a mk3 but im just pointing out the box is bullet proof compared to the w58. Though personally its not the option i would choose
