djg99
Can anyone help! Over the last week, my speedo has started not to work, it doesn't do it all the time, just now and again! When it does stop working, a light comes on, but i'm not sure what it means, I've been told that it could be my speed converter, and that i will need a new one! My cars a jap TT. Ian C
Is it the "check engine" light? The red one with the exclamation mark in it? If so it's probably the ECU whinging it hasn't got a speed signal because the wiring to your speed converter has failed in some fashion. You'll find your power steering overly light as well because the ECU thinks you are stationary all the time. The light will only come on under conditions of load driving, I think it's about 8 seconds above 2500rpm with positive boost. Pete Betts aka TRL performance aka Thor Racing sells very good and very cheap convertors which are pretty much de rigeur for UK Supra owners. -Ian
djg99
No! It looks like a square with a little line at the top and one on the left hand side, when it comes on its on the same block as the ABS etc !

I'd start off by removing the SLD and seeing if the problem goes away. That'll tell you if that is causing it. As mentioned the Thor SLDs are very good bits of kit and also fully adjustable, so you get a spot-on accurate speedo too!
