Does number 2 turbo forget to come on?

What happens if you let off the accelerator and then get back on it again, does the second turbo kick in.

I occasionally get this probelm when i drop it down a gear or 2 and then the second turbo doesn't kick in, and it sounds like you described. If i let off the throttle and get back on it again it comes online.

Easy fix this one.

Chang ethe pipework first 0.6mm hose from the left pipe that drops down (next to the Y Turbo outlet pipe at teh top of the engine ) to the VSV just under that hard pipe. if this does nto solve it change the VSV.

The vsv you are lookign for is the one that controls the main Exhaust Flow under the Turbos - (laymans) hope this helps.

I bet it happens when you overtake someone after cruising for a while.

First time you ask for 2 it isn't getting prespooled so the system is trying to bring on a dead turbo with No 1 boost escaping backwards through 2. The exhaust is also trying to turn 2 the normal way so it's in grid lock causing the engine to slowly rev.

So when you change gear tubby 2 is slightly prespooled and shoots off when demanded but winds down when cruising and the same happens again.

The EGBV VSV resistance should be around 22 - 26ohms mine was 70ohm to sometimes mega ohms. Fooked. I also put pressure on the EGBV actuator and excersised it with some teflon 3 in 1 on the rod.

Hope this helps mate.:)

This might too.

This problem is not your autobox. Your gaining speed in relation to revs, your revs are just not rising as quickly as expected due to the fact No2 has not come online.

Its a problem with the exhaust valves prespooling Turbo2. I'd do what Lucifier said and then speak to Chris if the problem still exists like Sheefa.

My car also does exactly what your saying and fully letting off the throttle and reapplying it solves the problem at the time

If the revs go up to 6k-ish but I don't go anywhere then it'd be the box right?

Decided to bump this thread today.

Im pretty sure this issue is not autobox related. Since fitting a boost gauge, I've never had this problem of no second turbo rush when planting it at 50+ mph cruising. Today this problem occured again, immediately when it happened I noticed that the car would not rise above 0 bar on my boost gauge, indicating that neither of the turbos was producing any boost?? I think this is suggesting that something such as a VSV is whats causing this problem.

I read somewhere that if you just cruise in the supe ie the wife going to the shops, then no.2 wont come on line the 1st time.in other words the car 'learns' that driving style and doesnt catch you out with the 2nd turbo.dont know how true that it.

Was that in the Daily Sport :D

It is definitely is NOT an auto box problem as like jevansio said the 6 speed manuals also suffer the same problem. - mine does from time to time. Mainly when i'm in a high gear and change down which in turns brings the revs up above 4k (2nd turbo territory) and boot it the 2nd turbo doesn't kick in, therefore i have to let off the accelerator and back on again. Most annoying when overtaking !

sounds to me when you boot it the auto box changes down gear but brings the revs over 4k like when i do it manually therefore causing the same problem.

Right i had a similar issue to this on and off for a couple of years. i have since replaced the VSV (i can't remember its name) behind the wastegate VSV and i have had no problems at all i can drop it down and it just boosts and goes.

EGCV vsv matey.:)
