HID Lights not working

EDIT:

THESE ARE NOW WORKING!!

Thanks Rich (Trick TT) for all your help today buddy. ;)

It was a loose connection and also the connections that were made were incorrect, so that's all sorted. Wiring has been tidied up a little too and Rich even fitted my RLTC diagnostic lead for me for the Digi Adjuster.

Great bloke and very helpful. Thanks again Rich :)

Hi Guys,

All lights were working fine before my crash a while ago.

The wiring of the HIDs impacted against my FMIC, but the wiring looks intact and the sidelights (dipped lights?) and full beams work fine. My main lights however don't work.

Any ideas bearing in mind I'm shit at all thinks techy?

Was going to see Matt Harwood when I take it there to get my alarm sorted in the new year, but obviously I can't drive it at night.

I'm hoping to fit my clear bumper lights Thursday so maybe something will crop up there.:search:

Any ideas/guides/advice much appreciated people. ;)

Thanks,

Greg

I fitted my HIDs today (woohoo they're fantastic!) and at first they didnt' work, because I hadn't made a fantastic connection to the battery - try tightening those up.

There really aren't that many things that could result in the HIDs not firing up, so if you had it working before the crash its bound to be something simple - either a clip has come loose somewhere or maybe the battery connections have become dislodged (did Chris take the battery out at all during the work he's done?)

Good luck! :)

Thanks Steve - will check the connections tonight, or Wednesday afternoon when then there's a little more light. Glad yours are all fitted OK mate :)

Rich - that would be brilliant mate if that's OK with you. I'll buy you a beer and lunch somewhere if you can give me a hand ;) I'll see if the connections are loose tonight and drop you a PM if that's not sorted it :) Thanks bud, you're a legen.

They're not really bulbs in the radticional sense of the words Chris. From wikipedia;

"HID lamps produce light by striking an electrical arc across tungsten electrodes housed inside a specially designed inner fused quartz or fused alumina tube. This tube is filled with both gas and metals. The gas aids in the starting of the lamps. Then, the metals produce the light once they are heated to a point of evaporation, forming a plasma."

I'm not really sure what can go wring with them, assuming they are intact. Maybe the Ballasts aren't heppy - try plugging your HIDs into someone else's ballasts, Greg. :)

Chris/Steve, thank you for your comments and advice.

Chris, they were intact and working prior to the crash perfectly. I think some wiring must of come loose somewhere, but as you know, it's a damn mess! I'm getting some bulbs coming soon, but Rich has some standard ones that we'll test tomorrow. ;)

Steve - hopefully the wiring is intact and it's just a loose connection as I can't see why the full beams and sidelights would work if the unit was shot. Here's hoping! :)

Thanks,

Greg

Greggo, the sidelights/fogs/main beam don't go through the ballasts mate - only the HIDs require those.

If you get proper stuck I can take a look for you after Christmas but I'll be away until early Jan and suspect you/Trick will have it sussed long before then :)
