Mike M
Just been reading about all the remote straps breaking on these and found this:- "I got one of the first Wii but after a few minutes playing the strap broke and the controller shot off and hit my partner in the face resulting in two broken teeth. She slipped at the same time falling into the TV set and smashing the screen. The TV was plugged into the surround sound system and consequently pulled it over and smashing into my CD and DVD collection. I advise anyone to be careful of the wii" How unlucky is that. michael
Another site dedicated to the whole breakage thing: http://www.wiidamage.com Odd isn't it, people manage to hold baseball bats, hammers, steering wheels etc without a strap but as soon as there is a chance for a bit of publicity / legal action / bullsh1t they go crazy. Dumbass sweaty-handed merkin fools.
Scoboblio
Learn to hold a bloody remote control FFS, before you start swinging it round your head at a velocity that can knock out 2 teeth!
DaveK
I am very dubious about the claims of damage. I'm pretty sure that if I threw a plastic controller at my LCD TV it would not break the screen - and I know damn well that if I threw it at a CRT it would do no damage at all. What are these things made of? Iron??????

You are welcome to give it a go though and test your theory. I just hope it is not your computer monitor as you might have a hard time letting us know the outcome. CRT dont think so, Plasmas usually have a protective screen in front of the glass cos they get mega hot. Just pressing and LCD screen fecks it but the swirls are cool. tbourner
I used to scrap CRT monitors as part of my job, I doubt anyone could damage the screen with a 200g remote!!! Maybe a little scratch but no way would it crack it!! We used to chuck the CRTs (without associated electronics) into the back of a huge skip and only about 30% would break (believe me we were trying to break them! ) LCD I wouldn't like to say! And I'm not testing it on mine!

Kookoocachu
I so far have had two experiences with the Wii and its...breaking properties. Day of release, i get a phone call from a friend who the day before told me that Wii's breaking everything was a load of crap and that people should be more careful, Turns out he has a nice big crack and deep chip in his 5 months old telly. and then, my brothers experience, which to the day i die will think of as the funniest day of my life. Brand new console, very excited little brother, one good swing about 10 mins into game play and THWACK. He threw it with such force that it flew half way across the room into the PC monitor. smash, kaboom lol. I have never laughed so hard in my intire life, my brothers face was PRICLESS. and the great thing is, he hasnt been able to play it cuz theres been such a shortage of new controllers! oh and in both cases it was the strap that broke. EDIT: dont you think its strange that people havent sued yet? in this day and age? nintendo were aware of the problem from the usa/japan release. I think it says alot about the people who have Wiis, i think it will be the angry mothers that will sue lol
